Contest is over

ENGLISH from -=Pasha13=-: So there is, contest is finished and as I suspected Avax doesn't satisfied with the results, but it's OK, he's a bit perfectionist :-) He was waiting much more interest and activity from our visitors and now he thinks that contest is failed. Of course it's not hard to understand his feelings, just look at our comments example... they almost MISSING(!) in EVERY(!) post, but hundreds ungrateful people download content from these posts and even do not leave a single comment with "thanks" or something similar! Yep, unfortunately our visitors degrade day-by-day :-( and all this happens not only at AvaxHome... it's sad world tendency, f*cking consumer society! But anyway, in my opinion, contest isn't failed, we have received more than three hundred photos of very interesting, unseen places, and as was promised, we made our choice!

FIRST PLACE

Excellent competition, I enjoyed browsing the entries and, as an average photographer, can only dream of taking similar quality pictures.

On the subject of thanks giving (or the lack of) please don't think that you efforts aren't appreciated. Please try to remember that you are bringing great pleasure to each person who expresses their thanks (and they are truly grateful for your work) and I hope that is enough for you to overlook the ones who don't.

That's right. Only in very closed communities (like exclusive private trackers) can you see people appreciate contributions. I'm not very active here, but I try to leave a message on every post I see some effort (not on lazy copypastes).

Anyway, it's strange that so few people participated, considering that there were monetary prizes.

I couldn't send my photos because a matter of time. I love photography, but I saw the announcement too late and I had a big exam those days... I just couldn't made the scans (my favourite photos are on film, not digital) and a good description. I hope there will be a next contest, so I can take part too.

I recognize the first photo. It is in Mexico, in Tijuana in the somewhat less blessed quarters. The artist made this huge statue all by himself, right by his home. it weighs about 20 tons. It is a symbol for Tijuana. The city is female and has nothing to hide. That´s what he said.

I didn´t even know there was a contest! Anyway, I ain´t got a camera. By the way, I agree with Pasha13 about the comments: there´s so few people who thanks at least; I don´t mean that everyone must thank at each post, but at least thanking the author when he´s posted some, or when you find out a great post, etc.

I'll be damn, I won something, and yes, a few shots of whiskey would be good, its been a long time since I've had whiskey, just vodka the last few years. I was somewhat surprised that not as many people sent photos as did, I guess people no longer have confidence in themselves to try any more.

About thanking people on the forum, I used to until I downloaded viruses and had to reinstall windows three times, so I no longer download software, (just part of the game) just ebooks now and I do thank people from time to time, if its a good book. And yes, thanks again for all the hard work that goes into this setup and thanks for the win of third place and to those who voted for me.

Do not say it was an awful or poor turnout, just say it was Not Widely Embraced by the Visitors. I will post my pictures on the next one, if there is one. I just didn't know about it. The Pictures are all winners and the participants deserve better than criticism for the low turnout. My 2 cents.

Please do not feel the Contest was a failure - It was a first time,and I'm sure many were unfamiliar.

For myself, too ofter I take for granted what is right in my back yard. In this manner, I feel it would not be of interest to others. I assure you I will try to post more often, and get more involved with AH. This is the Premier site - no other can compare. I am as guilty as others for taking AH for granted. I am sorry - It deserves much better!

Thank you again for working to get the Avax Community more involved.

I have to agree with @Buzzlitejear here. Also take for granted all the scenery here in Venice Beach, I think everyone has seen it already, but I realize there are places I visit that probably no 'tourists' see.

Next contest I'll be in on ;)

And Great site! I try to give thanks at things I grab up. I don't know if there is a Tutorial on how to upload/host? but I have a few items that I know are not out in the web'o'sphere yet as I had to buy them because I needed them NOW and couldn't find them with Google/Bing/Yahoo/Astalavista, et. al.

There are a couple things I'd like to bring up: I stop leaving comment with "thanks" or something similar awhile back due to the restriction that I can't do it more than once!!!! even with different publishers. Secondly, I tried to donate through Paypal, and it kept asking for my personal infor. I posted my concern, and got no respond.
Lastly, I do appreciate what's Avax and publishers have done for us through out the years. And other folks certainly feel the same way.

Great selection of pics - will we see them all sometime and judge for ourselves? We would like also to provide prizes to our favourite ones, or at least a good word of praise - much more valuable than capitalist dollars, I think. Money flies, esteem provides motives for progress, glory is eternal. Money could be interpreted as an insult - "ok, you're good, what else do you want, take these and shut up". So please let us also praise the pioneers and the amateurs.

And a small detail - how did you judge/ascertain that the submissions were original and not stolen?

Here's the thing, when I get this message, "You can post only one comment in 2 minutes, sorry" you are telling me you don't want my comments, so you shouldn't complain when you don't get them. I'm really not going to wait 2 minutes.

Other than that, I do enjoy AvaxHome very much. It is sometimes frustratingly s-l-o-w, but the content is excellent.

My only other gripe has nothing to do with AvaxHome per se. That would be the lack of RapidShare mirrors on posts. I just don't get why RapidShare is lacking when it is hands down the most popular downloading site of all.

Thanks for all your hard work keeping this site going.

First, as I stated earlier, in some parts of the world it is not so smart to throw around your personal information in piracy/warez related "contacts". Even for 500 dollars I at least am not going to take any chances. The contest could very well be more successful if the prices were more symbolical (like some VIP account for example) which would abolish the need for personal information. Second the layout of the contest part on this site was kind of awkward. I remember to had to click and dig quite a bit to see all pictures. I spend half an hour until I gave up and went on my way.
Other then that the idea was great and the effort to build a community more than admirable. I'm all in for that. A lot of us, I guess. As a positive person I do not think the average Avaxer is ungrateful. Lazy maybe, inconsiderate or plain rude. Who knows.. As for me Avax is a daily stop, which I enjoy for several reasons. For that and the obvious other reasons I do thank our Avax team. Congratulations to the winners and cheers to the contesters!

I appreciate AVAX as a wonderful and SPAM free, crap-free site. It has some of the best and varied contributions from the Net community. I'm sorry I dont enter comments. I will try to now, as much as I can to thank the uploaders.

About the competition, I would love to but Im really lazy and also dont want the FBI knocking on my door! lol.

PS ALSO Is it necessary to have Facebook Link adder to the Warez - this will bring unwanted attention to the pigs and censor authorities and then the links will die. Not a good idea!

Everybody got their prize but me and I live here in Moscow. I never heard anything, got no email nothing. But maybe it is the email address I used, I have two, if I used the one from the UK, then it will not accept email using foreign lettering, if I used my gmail, I should have received it. I'm not too happy about not hearing anything!
