Boris Alexandrovich Tchaikovsky (1925 - 1996) was an exponent of modern tonality, composing large and expansive scores which constantly flirt with the boundaries of orthodox harmony without ever stepping fully outside them. His works are characterized by strong motivic development, with a robust rhythmic structure, and carefully managed climaxes. His music is idiomatic and distinctive and he uses classic composition methods frequently.
He was not related to Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
