Rooney - Eureka (Deluxe Edition) - 2010
MP3 | VBR (V2) 203 kbps avg. | 44100 hz | Joint Stereo | 79 Mb
Rock | Indie

Eureka is a glorious blend of pop, rock, punk, and folk. Rooney play some pretty infectious tunes this disc, immediately starting with the opener, "Holdin' On". From there, this band continues to pour heart into every track that follows. "I Can't Get Enough" is instantly upbeat and catchy, "Into The Blue" is a sadly beautiful piano number, and "The Hunch" feels like a cross between the Beatles and Panic! At The Disco. The largely acoustic "I Don't Wanna Lose You" also stands out, as do the instrumentals in general with this album. There's no denying that Rooney are talented musicians that know how to write a good record. These songs have a large audience range for appeal, so any one should look these guys up just in case Eureka could become your next favorite disc. Luckily for us, we had the chance to review the deluxe edition, so we can tell you about the bonus tracks. There are three: acoustic versions of "Gone" and "I Don't Wanna Lose You", as well as a b-side titled "Can't Put Your Heart Around Everyone". As a complete collection, this is a damn entertaining record. Eureka successfully reels in new listeners and keeps their attention from start to finish. If you didn't know of Rooney before, now is a good time to discover their tunes.

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers - Mojo - 2010
EAC Rip | FLAC, CUE, LOG | No scans | 413 Mb | MP3 | 256 kbps | 119 Mb
Rock

After years spent establishing their command of most genres of American rock and pop, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers finally get around to making their blues album – and it's one of their very best efforts, as ought to be the case when a band plugs into the potency of raw R'n'B spirit.
There's a steely confidence about the album right from the opening riff of "Jefferson Jericho Blues", whose unison guitar and harmonica groove rolls along with the Corvette power of a Chess Records classic, Petty musing about Thomas Jefferson's miscegenate affection for "the little maid out back". Then it's straight into the waltz-time single "First Flash of Freedom", whose oddly prog-rockish riff brings to mind The Allman Brothers Band on one of their jazz-infused workouts. It offers the first of a series of showcases for guitarist Mike Campbell, who demonstrates his extraordinary versatility across virtually any style you'd care to mention, from the stormtrooper heavy-metal stomp of "I Should Have Known It" to the amped-up country-blues of "U.S. 41" and the brilliant simulation of J J Cale's neat, fluid guitar licks for "Candy".

Eisbrecher - Eiszeit - Limited Edition - 2010
Mp3 320 Kb | VBR v2 scene | 44.1 kHz | Joint-Stereo | 82 Mb
Gothic Industrial Metal

Very cool. I really missed this music!
The structure of the project includes Eisbrecher Alexx Wesselsky (lyrics / vocals) and Noel Pix (music / keyboards, guitar, programming). Both had previously been members of the band Megaherz, which was popular not only at home in Germany, but in other countries.
Eisbrecher music can be described as progressive electro-trip-rock. Electronics is the foundation on which Noel and Alex are building their own tunes. Music programming - is the heart of the vision group Eisbrecher modern rock, which is acquiring the features of the progressive, dance, etc. Heavy guitar riffs and powerful bass immerses the listener into the depths of electro-rock. Alex's deep voice varies from song to song: he says, sings, lives and feels.

Meat Loaf - Hang Cool Teddy Bear - 2010
Mp3 VBR (V2) 226 kbps avg. | 44100 hz | Joint Stereo | 105 Mb
Rock

For the past 35 years, the man born Marvin Lee Aday has been a towering monument on the musical landscape. His 1977 album Bat Out Of Hell transformed this former high school football player, nightclub bouncer and stage actor into the American rock 'n' roll icons, Meat Loaf. Hang Cool Teddy Bear (a title taken from a line in the classic Russ Meyer trash movie Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls) is his 11th studio album, and aims to drag the classic Meat Loaf sound kicking and screaming into the 21st century. Produced by new collaborator Rob Cavallo (Green Day, My Chemical Romance Paramore, Fleetwood Mac), the album features hand-picked musicians including guitarists Tim Pierce, Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins (who co-wrote two songs for the album), Paul Crook and Randy Flowers, legendary bass players Chris Chaney and Kasim Sulton, keyboardist Jamie Mulhoberac and drummer John Micelli. Hang Cool Teddy Bear also features an array of big-name guests, including Steve Vai (who appears on "Love is Not Real"), former Queen guitarist Brian May (who appears on "Song Of Madness" and "Love Is Not Real"), American Idol presenter Kara DioGuardi (who co-wrote and sings on "If I Can't Have You") and Hollywood star Jack Black, who duets with Meat Loaf on "Like A Rose". But the most surprising guest is Blackadder and House actor Hugh Laurie--a classically-trained pianist who plays on "If I Can't Have You?".

UNKLE - Where Did The Night Fall (2010)
lossless | flac (tracks + cue+ log) | 379 MB
Electronic | Downtempo | Alternative | Trip-Hop

Being that it is one of the pioneering groups in trip-hop, UNKLE has the right to bend – and break – the rules. It trail-blazed one scene and now appears to be working on yet another. Let’s call it psych-hop. The British DJs are back to work with their latest full-length, Where Did The Night Fall, an album that is sure to win over new fans just as it will likely alienate others. Do note: for fans who wish to hear another Psyence Fiction, don’t get your hopes up; it’s not happening.
Like it or not, UNKLE is moving on and progressing just as the majority of musicians inevitably do. Where Did The Night Fall takes a definite step towards the indie and psychedelic genres, while remaining grounded in electronic roots. The production is finely polished, even when the tracks melt into mushy abstractions. Furthermore, the vibe from track to track varies due to the wide range of influences. Everything from acoustic to punk to experimental electronica pops up along the way, giving the listener a sampling of UNKLE’s talent in each realm.

Scouting For Girls - Everybody Wants To Be On TV - 2010
Mp3 VBR V2 220 kbps | 44.1kHz | Joint-Stereo | 51 Mb
Indie Pop | Piano | Pop-Rock

The new Scouting For Girls album, produced by Andy Green at Helioscentric Studios in East Sussex, is an unshakeably bold, confident, and a genuine step up in sound that loses none of the band's early charm, but builds and expands upon it as infectiously as only they know how to be.
It is also a hugely optimistic record, at odds with the uncertainty Britain faces in 2010. If Scouting For Girls are the everyday guys that have obtained the unobtainable, they have consistently done it with a smile on their faces, and with feet firmly on the ground.

Gyroscope - Cohesion - 2010
Mp3 VBR (V2) 222 kbps avg. | 44100 hz | Joint Stereo | 68 Mb
Indie Rock | Garage Rock | Alternative

Let’s face it, straightforward rock doesn’t get a lot of love these days. The accessibility and conventional structuring that is associated with the sub-genre generally screams mainstream radio rock; therefore failing to garner the respect of the underground listeners by default. Aussie rockers Gyroscope have always presented somewhat of a disparity from your predictable rock group by never quite breaking into the mainstream (outside of Australia), contrary to what you may believe. Gyroscope began making a name for themselves in the early 2000’s when they were able to land supporting shows for Unwritten Law, Dashboard Confessional, and Blink-182 among others where the band fostered enough attention to exhibit themselves as their own commodity. By riding the wave of their intensely energetic live performances and the success of their early EP’s, Gyroscope released commended full-length releases “Sound Shattering Sound,” “Are You Involved?” and eventually “Breed Obsession” in 2008.

DE DE MOUSE - A Journey To Freedom - 2010
Mp3 CBR 256 kbps | 44100 hz | Joint Stereo | 107 Mb
Electronic | Drum & Bass | Techno | Chiptune | Dance

If the name Akihiko Yoshida is oddly familiar to you, yet you're still unable to place it, you're not alone. While a great many people would be able to name their top ten favorite Final Fantasy characters, many would have a hard time telling you the name of the artist behind many of the franchise's character designs and iconic paintings.
There are probably fewer people who know who De De Mouse is. The quirky electro-pop producer might be a hit on obscure Japanese music podcasts, but he has yet to make a household name for himself, even among otaku.
So, mixing the two relatively obscure talents might seem like a "meh" bit if news for some, but for others it's like that movie 2012, only with exploding rainbows, dancing bears vomiting up tidal waves of technicolor landscapes and gangs of pre-teen girls racing over boiling seas of stars. In other words, pretty frickin' sweet.
I won’t begin to describe De De Mouse and his wonderful music. An easy label would be independent (indie). Sometimes electronica, often times bizarre, this music is often ground-breaking and inspiring.
Just perfect. It is not usual! Highly recommend!
