Ana Popovic - Jam Session With Paul Personne (2008)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 78 Mb | Total Time: 00:31:51
Genre: Blues,Modern Electric Blues,Blues-Rock

If you're not a blues purist, you'll love the fiery, passionate playing and singing of Yugoslavian blues-rock guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter Ana Popovic. Thanks to her father, the Belgrade-raised Popovic was introduced to the blues at an early age, through his wide-ranging record collection and jam sessions hosted at the Popovic home. Born on May 13, 1976, Popovic took up guitar when she was a teenager and formed her first band, Hush, in 1995. Within a year, with the collapse of Communism in Eastern Europe, she was playing blues festivals in Greece and Hungary and working as an opening act for American blues masters, including Junior Wells.

Albert Cummings and Swamp Yankee - The Long Way (1999)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 101 Mb | Total Time: 00:41:49
Genre: Blues, Modern electric blues

Albert Cummings leads his band swamp yankee through 9 tracks of rocking blue's chuck full of his tasty guitar work. Somewhat like Stevie but with a little cleaner tone. From the rocking The Long Way to the slow blues workout Lonley Bed, to the Skynyrdish Mojo Workin' his guitar is well upfront. The album has a very live feel to it because it was recorded almost soley in one two hour session. But don't let that stop you the production is crystal clear with good separation leaving alberts guitar work plenty of room to shine throughout. I can recommend this cd for those who like their blues rockin with alot of guitar work.

Jimmy Dludlu - Corners Of My Soul (2006)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 187 Mb | Total Time: 01:18:16
Genre: Jazz, Fusion, African Jazz

JIMMY DLUDLU was 13 years old when he first picked up a cousin's home made guitar and started teaching himself to play by imitating the jazz and African music he heard on the radio. His first performances were at township weddings and functions with his cousin. His career took off in earnest in the mid-1980's, when he worked with various southern African bands including Impandze from Swaziland, featuring Jamaican singer Trevor Hall, Kalahari and Satari from Botswana, as well as Anansi, featuring the Ghanaian saxophonist George Lee. A highlight of this period was his performance with Anansi at the Botswana Independence celebrations in 1986, alongside a range of African stars including Thomas Mapfumo

Any student of history can testify to the contributions of the various cultures and political powers to the evolution of this art form. The Near East, North Africa and regions around the Mediterranean Sea have witnessed the intermingling of cultural and artistic knowledge throughout ancient and modern history. From the Greek, the Phoenician, the Roman and the Persian empires, to the Islamic Empire, and later the Ottomans and Europeans, a diverse musical heritage has emerged. The Brecker Brothers Band - Live In NYC (1992)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 172 Mb | Totsl Time: 01:11:30
Genre: Jazz, Fusión

I am a big fan of the Brecker Brothers' work of the 70's and early 80's when they produced a unique style of music, characterized by powerful grooves and wonderful, original melodies and harmonies. Together with the great individual skills of Michael and Randy and of the various other band members, they were responsible for some of the greatest Jazz (funk) records IMHO. I decided to buy this cd after i was quite enthusiastic about their 'Live in Barcelona' video. The video featured the BB playing with Mike Stern, Dennis Chambers, James Genus, George Whitty; all of whom can also be found on this cd. Unfortunately the chemistry and energy of that band cannot be found on this cd.

The Brecker Brothers & Billy Cobham - Dreams (1970)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 96 Mb | Total Time: 00:40:15
Genre: Jazz, Fusión

I bought this album on LP in early 1971, and it has proven to be an interesting document in the history of Jazz/Rock. A reflection of the open minded musical attitude that existed at the time, Dreams takes the sophisticated and more loosely structured horn charts and solos of Jazz and places them over a rock oriented rhythm section. The results are always listenable, never boring, and often surprising. All of the pieces contain musical subtleties that make this recording special. Certainly, many of the ideas expressed here were well above those expressed by Chicago and BS&T, yet the music is just as accessible.

The Brecker Brothers - Straphangin' (1981)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 112 Mb | Total Time: 00:44:44
Genre: Jazz, Fusión

The early '80s were a confusing time for many a jazz musician. The temptation to dabble in such waters as disco, funk, and rock was a risky proposition: pull it off and you were a genius, fail and you were the laughing stock of the industry. Falling somewhere in the large grey area between those two poles, the Brecker Brothers started the decade with Straphangin', a seven-song excursion into all sorts of fusion and AOR-like territories.

Glenn McNulty - Raw Silk (1998)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 102 Mb | Total Time: 00:42:42
Genre: Jazz, Smooth Jazz

The success of saxophonists like Najee poses a difficult challenge for up-and-coming smooth-jazz reedsmen: How to fit the mold, yet not sound too much like any one player? Glenn McNulty made a good choice when he called his Isona Records debut Raw Silk: He answers the question by taking his tenor in two basic directions - a swaying, gentle cool with soulful appeal akin to that of Boney James, and a more aggressive effect that falls somewhere between the dynamics of Richard Elliot and Gato Barbieri. When McNulty is playing it romantic, like on "Jump Start," it's as though he's holding back a little, keeping the melody a bit subdued.

Jeff Kashiwa - Remember Catalina (1995)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 141 Mb | Total Time: 00:59:25
Genre: Jazz, Smooth Jazz

I remember Catalina Island -- it was December 1990 and the first stop on my first cruise. Jeff Kashiwa remembers Catalina because it was here that he met his future wife Chaunte for the first time in 1989 while doing a Rippingtons concert at the Catalina Jazz Trax Festival. This meeting ostensibly set up the release of this album in 1995 -- it's Jeff's first solo effort.

Watazumido Doso Roshi - Hotchiku (2000)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 163 Mb | Total Time: 01:08:22
Genre: New Age

Watazumido Doso Roshi (1910-1992) is perhaps the most legendary of all modern shakuhachi players and teachers. Amongst his many students is Yokoyama Katsuya, one of greatest players in Japan today.
Regarding himself as something other than a musician, Watazumido based his music in an uncompromising vigorous physical discipline. He was a practitioner of the Jo stick, a long hardwood pole with which he used to stretch, massage, pounds and invigorate his body in a daily regimen beginning at 3:30 AM each day. For over 3,000 consecutive days, he maintained this discipline.

The Brecker Brothers - Collection Vol.2 (1990)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 165 Mb | Total Time: 01:08:51
Genre: Jazz, Fusión

I love this collection, but I can't figure out why they omitted "Tabula Rasa" or "Night Flight". Let's be honest, the appeal of the Brecker Brothers is limited to musicians. Musicians would want to hear those two tunes. I resent having to a)dig out my beat-up old vinyls or b)pay double or triple to buy the original albums on CD as imports. I would still be stuck wading through (and paying for) the annoying disco and pop tunes! Isn't that the point of creating an anthology in the first place!?
