Charles Trenet - Les Indispensables (1994)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 99 Mb | Total Time: 00:41:29
Genre: Vocal, French Chanson, French Pop

Charles Trenet was among the last of his kind of singer, a holdover from the era of pre-World War II France and the prime of Maurice Chevalier, as well as singer/composers such as Georges Brassens and Léo Ferré. Originally an art student, Trenet turned to singing in his early twenties, initially in partnership with pianist Johnny Hess in a duo billed as "Charles and Johnny."

Earl, Perkins, Jones, Smith - Eye To Eye (1996)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 164 Mb | Total Time: 01:08:23
Genre: Blues, Modern electric blues

Do not expect anything but the same "old" blues from this CD. However if you are true blues fans just ask to yourself: "do I really want something different?" If the answer is "no" don't hesitate a second and pick up this CD! I don't think that Ronnie Earl backed by his mate and Broadcaster former member Bruce Katz and almost the entire Muddy Waters' band was looking for anything different than playing the blues as it is written in the sacred text books when he approached the recording studio.

Freddie King - Larger Than Life (1975)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 97 Mb | Total Time: 00:41:19
Genre: Blues, Modern electric blues

Although it's great that Freddie's very last album has finally been put out on CD, it will hardly be to everyone's taste. While its predecessor "Burglar" was and still is a brilliant album on which funk, blues and rock merged easily, "Larger Than Life" is too disjointed to come close to the quality of that one. This album has its moments though. Several tunes were pulled from a Freddie concert at the armadillo headquarters in Texas, and 'Meet Me in The Morning' and especially the funkfilled nutcracker 'You Can Run But You Can't Hide' are fabulous.

The Brecker Brothers - Detente (1980)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 105 Mb | Total Time: 00:43:35
Genre: Jazz, Fusión

Well, how d'you put that one? Say, in 1984 or so, following a friend's advice I checked the (never heard before) Brecker brothers, the only one they carried in store was "Detente" so I bought it; well next thing I remember is being P... off by the disco-funk beat which I hated, but after some 30 seconds when the first chorus went off, had realized that it was my best record ever. Well what they do is, take any style and burst it from the inside, into jazz frenzy. My masters ever since, btw I used to play trumpet and my bro is still a pro at saxophone, he learned a great deal from them crazy brothers. You can blindly go for it, quality 360° scope.

Jeff Golub - Temptation (2005)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 112 Mb | Total Time: 00:46:32
Genre: Jazz/Jazz Blues/Guitar Jazz

A little groovy, a little sexy, and a whole lotta cool, TEMPTATION is the powerful Narada Jazz debut from top-selling guitarist Jeff Golub. Including a nod to one of his influences, Wes Montgomery, Golub continues to make his mark on contemporary jazz with these 11 new tunes featuring his blues-drenched guitar lines, pop/rock sensibilities, and chilled-down grooves.

Jeff Golub - Soul Sessions (2003)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 138 Mb | Total Time: 00:57:51
Genre: Jazz/Jazz Blues/Guitar Jazz

Sit down, relax, and take a close listen to this disc. This is music reminiscent of the jazz greats of the sixties, with Jeff's fretprints all over it. I was fortunate enough to hear Jeff "live" in Chicago (before this was released) where he opened his set with the first track "BOOM BOOM". WOW! At first listen of the entire disc, I felt it was right there with all of Jeff's releases. But then, as I listened again and again, I was knocked out by his playing. On tracks like "Isn't That So" and "Can't Let You Go", he isn't the instrument on the track, he is the other voice. His playing as emotional and soulful the vocals. Pick this one up, then sit down and listen to a REAL guitarist, a jazz great, and an album that would be a fine addition to any collection.

The Brecker Brothers - Don't Stop The Music (1977)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 100 Mb | Total Time: 00:41:32
Genre: Jazz, Fusión

This 1977 effort continues their hitmaking streak of one of fusion and R&B's durable and respected units. While this album's predecessor, Back to Back, was credited to the Brecker Brothers Band and featured members including David Sanborn and Steve Khan, it came off as underdone and facile. Don't Stop the Music does present their gifts in a more cogent fashion, but not without a few odd detours. The title track and "Finger Licking Good" are pure disco efforts, with pushy rhythms and ingratiating backing vocals. Although they are both a little silly, they have great horn riffs and boast a potent production. Despite those danceable offerings, Don't Stop the Music also features some of the brothers' most challenging work.

Jeff Golub & Avenue Blue - Avenue Blue (1994)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 123 Mb | Total Time: 00:51:56

"A snappy, fluid guitarist who takes the sharp lilt of Steve Laury into fascinatingly cool textures ranging from hip hop to atmospheric new age with just enough jazz tradition infused to cross genre...Definitely an auspiicious debut"....~ Jazziz Magazine.

Jeff Kashiwa - Simple Truth (2002)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 107 Mb | Total Time: 00:44:24
Genre: Jazz, Smooth Jazz

Like trying to divine the gospel from a sea of televangelists, the search for good modern jazz saxophone music is fraught with imposters and imitators. Welcome to the real thing. Jeff Kashiwa is one of the guys that somehow manages to remember to inject serious playing and writing into his albums rather than just stamp out a few more songs whose inspiration rises no higher than the loop on the drum machine.

Jeff Kashiwa - Walk A Mile (1996)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 125 Mb | Total Time: 00:52:04
Genre: Jazz, Smooth Jazz

I remember Catalina Island -- it was December 1990 and the first stop on my first cruise. Jeff Kashiwa remembers Catalina because it was here that he met his future wife Chaunte for the first time in 1989 while doing a Rippingtons concert at the Catalina Jazz Trax Festival. This meeting ostensibly set up the release of this album in 1995 -- it's Jeff's first solo effort.

The Brecker Brothers - Heavy Metal BeBop (1978)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 102 Mb | Total Time: 00:42:29
Genre: Jazz, Fusión

This is just an absolute JEWEL. Zappa fans will recognize Terry Bozzio in addition to the Brecker brothers themselves, and MAN, what a combo! Michael Brecker just shreds on every solo, and Randy finds nuances with the "electric trumpet" that have never been heard before or since. Some will want this for the novelty of the electric tenor sax and trumpet, but there are FINE examples of modern BeBop solos here, over a high-powered rhythm section that kicks and jumps all over everything the soloists lay down.

The Brecker Brothers - Back To Back (1996)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 119 Mb | Total Time: 00:48:26
Genre: Jazz, Fusión

In the mid '70s, trumpeter Randy Brecker and his saxophonist brother Michael were the Wynton and Branford Marsalis of their jazz fusion day. This live date features the brothers performing with the WDR Big Band in Koln, Germany in 2003. Augmented by conductor/arranger Vince Mendoza, bassist Will Lee, and drummer Peter Erskine, the Breckers revive some of their hits from their classic LPs Back to Back, Don't Stop the Music, Heavy Metal Be-Bop, Detente, and Strap-Hangin'.

Shadows - Party Tuff Or Stay Home (1992)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 86 Mb | Total Time: 00:35:20 | Covers
Genre: Blues, Modern Electric Blues

Many online music/CD outlets do not know their British instrumental Shadows from their Atlanta, Georgia blues Shadows, and you'll often find both sets of the bands' albums listed together. This is absurd, as they couldn't be more different. These boys are as hot and rockin' a blues band as you'll find anywhere. To my knowledge they have 4 CDs available, all worth checking out. My personal favourite is 'Dark Side Of The Shadows', and this is also pretty damn hot. I would recommend it to all fans of The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Sugar Ray & The Bluetones, Omar & The Howlers, etc. - great guitar tone, fabulous harmonica, soulful singing, tight rhythm section. Unfortunately one of their members was killed in a fire, and I don't know if they still exist as a band.

The Shadows - It Ain't Easy Bein' Sleazy (1993)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 131 Mb | Total Time: 00:53:32
Genre: Blues, Modern Electric Blues

On the internet, the Shadows are often confused with some blues group with titles like "It Ain't Easy Being Sleazy." That this group was not aware of the Shadows and so used their name casts doubt upon their musical credentials. This cd is by the real Shadows and Hank Marvin and includes their first huge hit "Apache" and more recent Hank Marvin solo efforts. Hank still puts out a good track every now and then, but overproduction and swamping from keyboards suffocate Hank's guitar sound. Their earlier version of "Riders in the Sky" would have been a better choice than this one. Still, this title gives a good idea of what Hank and the Shadows have been doing over the last 40 years. If you can only buy one Shadows cd, get "Rockin with Curly Leads" or the great compilation "Shadows Are Go"

Luther Tucker & The Ford Blues Band - Selftitled (1995)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 169 Mb | Total Time: 01:09:52
Genre: Blues, Modern electric blues

This album was put together after the premature death of the great Luther Tucker. It features his unique guitar playing, which really doesn't sound like the guitar work of anyone else. The seventeen minute interview at the end of the disc really provides great insight into Luther's life, career in music, huge admiration for Robert Junior Lockwood, and some Chess Records stories about Little Walter and Leonard and Phil Cess, which is quite amusing. "Cleo And Back Again" shows Tucker's experimental side, while "Little Bitty Man" is a song that doesn't sound like anything I've ever heard and has a great melody and almost island-feel to it.
