The Shadows - Pale Interpretators (1997)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 101 Mb | Total Time: 00:40:26
Genre: Blues, Modern Electric Blues

Many online music/CD outlets do not know their British instrumental Shadows from their Atlanta, Georgia blues Shadows, and you'll often find both sets of the bands' albums listed together. This is absurd, as they couldn't be more different. These boys are as hot and rockin' a blues band as you'll find anywhere. To my knowledge they have 4 CDs available, all worth checking out. My personal favourite is 'Dark Side Of The Shadows', but this is almost as good, and I would recommend it to all fans of The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Sugar Ray & The Bluetones, Omar & The Howlers, etc. - great guitar tone, fabulous harmonica, soulful singing, tight rhythm section. Unfortunately one of their members was killed in a fire, and I don't know if they still exist as a band.

Jimmy Witherspoon - Live At The 1972 Monterey Jazz Festival (2008)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 114 Mb | Total Time: 00:47:40
Genre: Blues

Backed by the Duke Robillard Band, this is Spoon's last recording, and one of his best. Jimmy's style has always combined the best of blues and Kansas City jazz, and Robillard's band pulls off these arrangements with understated elegance. Spoon is in fine voice on this session, and his phrasing and timing are impeccable, as always. The masterpiece here is "Kansas City". Sung with subtle joy with a hint of melancholy, Spoon shows us one last time why he is so beloved by blues and jazz fans alike.

Jeff Kashiwa - Peace Of Mind (2004)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 113 Mb | Total Time: 00:47:31
Genre: Jazz, Smooth Jazz

Jeff Kashiwa’s solo career has been in joyfully frenetic overdrive since the incredible success of "Hyde Park (The Ah, Oooh Song)," a #1 hit on Radio & Records’ airplay chart for over eight weeks in 2000. His Native Language debut ANOTHER DOOR OPENS and its more acoustic-oriented 2002 follow-up SIMPLE TRUTH established him as one of smooth jazz’s most dominant saxophone voices, yet in the midst of the breakneck tour schedule and in your face funk that characterizes his biggest hits, Kashiwa has also found true PEACE OF MIND – a soulful and lyrical concept that drives the gently rhythmic heart of his third Native Language release.

Jeff Golub & Avenue Blue - Nightlife (1997)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 111 Mb | Total Time: 00:47:28
Genre: Jazz/Jazz Blues/Guitar Jazz

As an avid listener to this CD it struck me how little of this brilliant effort makes it into the samples. Golub consistently takes the listener on a journey with more twists and turns than any Raiders of the Lost Ark movie. It is his genius in combining his ideas, bending the direction and changing the flow of the music that makes his work so worthwhile. Combine that with a fluid and soulful guitar style that matches any sax and you have an experience that gets better and better with each play. A small sample just does not do justice to this music.

Jeff Golub - Dangerous Curves (2000)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 146 Mb | Total Time: 01:07:23
Genre: Jazz/Jazz Blues/Guitar Jazz

For those who are getting into jazz from a rock, soul, r&b, or blues background, Jeff Golub is a great musician to listen too. Most songs are upbeat, with great guitar licks. I have enjoyed every one of Jeff's cd's, and Dangerous Curves is as good as it gets. 'No Two Ways About It', with Peter White on acoustic guitar is the current #1 smooth jazz song (9/14/00). Just saw Jeff in concert (he is currently touring on the Guitars and Saxes Smooth Jazz tour)and he brought the audience to their feet with his guitar playing. Highly recommend all of the Avenue Blue cd's as well.

Joe Louis Walker - In The Morning (2002)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 126 Mb | Total Time: 0:52:48
Genre: Blues, Modern electric blues

Joe Louis Walker. His 1986 debut album for HighTone, Cold Is the Night, announced his arrival in stunning fashion; his subsequent output on HighTone and Verve has only served to further establish Walker as one of the leading younger bluesmen on the scene. He traveled a circuitous route to get to where he is today. At age 14, he took up the guitar, playing blues (with an occasional foray into psychedelic rock) on the mushrooming San Francisco circuit. But by 1975, Walker was burned out on blues and turned to God, singing for the next decade with a gospel group, the Spiritual Corinthians.

Jeff Kashiwa - Back In The Day (2009)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 117 Mb | Total Time: 00:49:09
Genre: Jazz, Smooth Jazz

Saxman Jeff Kashiwa has been riding the high tide since his emergence on the scene some 20 years ago as the main horn man for Russ Freeman's supergroup, The Rippingtons. He would exit the group some 10 years later to embark upon a lucrative solo career that just seems to get better with each release. His feel, energy, and intensity have always been quite something of serious note in identifying Kashiwa, and Back In the Day exclaims that loud and clear.

Grant Geissman - Take Another Look (1990)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 102 Mb | Total Time: 00:41:45
Genre: Jazz, Smmoth Jazz

I have been a big fan of him since his debut album, Although I have been somewhat disappointed by most of his subsequent work, after. I have been waiting with baited breath for his return to those days. With Say That - he goes back to the killer form that smokes, most jazz guitar players off the stage. Say that-is the baddest jazz guitar CD that I have purchased in the last three or four years.

Grant Geissman - Say That (2006)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 177 Mb | Total Time: 01:14:09
Genre: Jazz, Smooth Jazz

I am delighted to have happened on this CD. I have been thoroughly enjoying this excellent group, essentially a traditional guitar-based jazz quintet, with sax, keyboards (piano or B3), bass and drums. Grant Geissman is an established pop and smooth jazz instrumentalist, so if you are familiar with his previous work you might be a bit surprised by this CD. The graphics and packaging are unique. The CD plastic itself is black and looks like a record! I had my doubts, but I assure you it plays fine. A miniature copy of the hand-written sheet music for the title cut is included along with a separate fold-out set of notes by Bill Milkowski. Overll, one of the most pleasing and creative efforts I have run across.

Gregg Allman Band - Playin' Up A Storm (1977)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 85 Mb | Total Time: 00:35:27
Genre: Rock, Blues-Rock, Southern Rock

When this L.P. was released back in 1977 it was a "sleeper" not much press or acknowledgement. But it was released amid many a great albums for many music genres to be sure. Make no Mistake This Is a Classic! It has a very soulful yet loosly polished sound and feel. Greg covers some older songs in here beautifully well. It is I think his best smoothest effort. The Album moves from song to song like he had planned to do this collection for some time. He has some excellent musicians and backing him up and it serves to produce a flawless nostalgic album that is quite satisfying.

Leslie West - Theme (2006)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 89 Mb | Total Time: 00:35:29
Genre: Rock, Hard rock, Blues-rock

Howard Stern should take credit for this album. Back in late '85 Howard was talking about how much he loved Mountain. Listening to him was none other than Leslie West who later called in and said how much of a fan he was of Stern. The two became friends and Leslie became a regular on his show. Then something weird happened, Mountain records started to sell again as Howard introduced a new generation of fans to the Mississippi Queen himself. Pretty soon Leslie was in demand for live shows and recording offers came in. Leslie pays tribute to Stern with the song ''Motherlode''. 0ne would think it was ''Talk Dirty'', but it's not. Howard wrote the liner notes on the back of the album, which in itself is worth the price.
