Joe Louis Walker - Preacher And The President (1998)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 131 Mb | Total Time: 00:48:53
Genre: Blues, Modern electric blues

Joe is an excellent guitarist and a capable singer. The quality of his singing is uneven. He has a decent voice, but he doesn't always pick songs that "fit" his voice. He does an excellent job of singing in "Pride of a Fool". But I frequently find his voice irritating. Very nice guitar soloing on "I'm Not Messin' Around". But the 2 songs I mentioned are the only ones I liked. --You might like the album "The Story of My Life" by Guitar Slim, Jr. -- You might think that with songs like, "Preacher and the President", "I'm Not Fooling Around", "Lyin' in the Name of Love", "Pride of a Fool", "Uhh!", "Tell the Truth", and "My Real Fantasy" that the whole album is about Bill Clinton. No, you don't see anything directed specifically at Bill ("I never!") Clinton.

Leslie West - Alligator (1986)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 74 Mb | Total Time: 00:29:41
Genre: Rock, Hard rock, Blues-rock

It's funny that this is considered rare, because that means someone must be looking for it. And having just had a listen, I have to wonder why. It's alright, but it's not the best Leslie West by any account. First problem for me is it's just far too 80s. Granted it's at the tail end, but that awful echoey production rears its hideous head in more than a few places. I personally hate the Steinberger he plays as well. I wish he'd pick up his old Les Paul Jr again, because that cliched 80s power metal tone is exactly that - a cliche. The tracks are alright, nothing that makes you cringe, but nothing that really gets your foot stamping either. I was annoyed though at his version of Free's "The Stealer". It's awful. Pales in comparison to the orignal, and then some. I'd tell you to buy his debut and Mountain catalogue instead, but if you're trying to track down this rarity, you've probably already got them. In sum - a rare gem this is not.

Joe Louis Walker - New Direction (2004)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 135 Mb | Total Time: 00:54:38
Genre: Blues, Modern electric blues

Joe Louis Walker is quite the triple threat. Not only is he a superb blues guitarist, with remarkable fluency and imagination, he's also an excellent singer (as you might expect from someone who came up through gospel groups), and an excellent writer with a strong penchant for soul music. For the most part, his blues isn't the heart-wrenching type, but deals with mistrust and double-dealing ("Messed My Mind Up") and good times ("Custom Cars, Gibson Guitars"). Throughout he blurs the line between blues and soul, which effectively makes this one of the best soul albums in a long time, as he shows on "Do You Love Me" and "You Don't Love Me Girl." With "Soldier for Jesus" his blues mixes with gospel, and some wonderful guitar work. With a small band -- bass, drums keys -- that truly swings, he keeps center stage, which is what he needs. Whether keeping rhythm guitar gliding behind his vocals, or shining as he does on "Mr. G's Boogie," his fretwork is fresh, wonderfully clean, and played with the kind of style and imagination all too often missing these days. Indeed, about the only misstep on the record is "Tempting Me," which talks up how much he's loved by the women when he's on the stage. Maybe it's tongue in cheek, but it also comes across as filler next to the other songs. And the closer, "Lena," tails everything off with a lyrical joy. A superb record from someone who might just be the best contemporary bluesman

Jeff Kashiwa - Play (2007)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 137 Mb | Total Time: 00:57:13
Genre: Jazz, Smooth Jazz

Jeff Kashiwa has put together a winning combination of tunes that will easily move the listener to push Play on this CD over and over. From the bluesy, solo improvisation of Prologue until the concluding Epilogue, the seasoned or novice Jeff Kashiwa listener is going to love this release. Fixing his energies solely on the tenor sax, Jeff makes great air on the best work of his career thus far. The ensemble he gathered for this album has such chemistry that they effortlessly created music that is embraceable without getting bogged down in a full understanding of its mechanics. Led by Kashiwa's unfettered playing, the band pours forth some of the most melodic improvisation on the 4:52 tune "The Lucky One" featuring an outstanding horn arrangement played by a horn section consisting of David Mann on tenor sax, Barry Danielian on trumpet and Michael Davis on trombone. You are going to love these guys again on "Movin' Up," "Changes," and "So Many Ways." Also on these tunes, visiting bassist Alex Al and drummer Teddy Campbell lay down a rhythm that keeps the listener movin' and groovin'.

Jeff Golub - Unspoken Words (1998)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 105 Mb | Total Time: 00:43:46
Genre: Jazz/Jazz Blues/Guitar Jazz

Jeff Golub really hits home with this excellent recording. He attempted to capture the 70's funk sound and boy, did he get it right! The first two tunes will get you hopping and reel you in for the rest. Make sure to check out his own web site for his own take on each of the tunes (www.jeffgolub.com/dangerous_curves_jg.htm). Very insightful and most of the songs were cut with one take!

Grant Geissman - In With The Out Crowd (1998)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 102 Mb | Total Time: 00:42:17
Genre: Jazz, Smooth Jazz

Imagine a cinematic scenario where one day Eddie Murphy turns into Lawrence Olivier and you'll have some idea of the pleasant shock of Grant's "In With The Out Crowd" . Till now, like Murphy, Geissman has been a lighthearted, people pleasing entertainer; his three previous Bluemoon releases all caught airplay fire but sacrificed artistic growth for friendly compositional flair. No longer, as the acoustic guitarist grows in quantum leaps, forgoing that fluffy, sax driven jacuzzi jazz sound for such down home, creative and swinging elements as recorder, flute, upright bass and Charlie Bisharat's remarkable gypsy violin. Bisharat's vibrant touches take Geissman's career to another level entirely.

Grant Geissman - Rustic Technology (1993)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 135 Mb | Total Time: 00:56:42
Genre: Jazz, Smooth Jazz

I first "met" Grant Geissman listening to Chuck Mangione records. His tasteful soloing is a joy to behold. This album showcases everything good about his acoustic guitar style. He plays blistering, yet tasteful, jazz throughout. He combines chords and melodies skillfully and is backed by impressive piano and violin. The variety of cuts here is especially enjoyable and every cut is special. You can't go wrong with this one!

Grant Geissman - Put Away Childish Toys (1983)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 105 Mb | Total Time: 00:43:54
Genre: Jazz, Smooth Jazz

Grant Geissman kept himself very busy in the '70s, playing and touring with the Louis Bellson Orchestra and Chuck Mangione (that was him playing that killer guitar solo on "Feels So Good"), as well as being an in-demand session player. With his reputation as a player firmly established, Geissman embarked on a solo career during the '80s. He is a very accomplished player, equally versed in straight-ahead jazz, commercial jazz, or even rock. This effort is a fine reminder of how bad some of the early commercial jazz recordings were prior to the GRP wave. His attempt to follow in Larry Carlton and Lee Ritenour's footsteps is obvious and not at all convincing. He would have been much better off if he made more recordings like Good Stuff. "Blowin' Out the Orbit Floor" makes this recording worth searching for in the bargain bin; otherwise, this dated material can be left in the '70s.

Elkie Brooks - The Best Of Elkie Brooks (2001)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 175 Mb | Total Time: 01:13:21
Genre: Pop Rock/Rock/Vocals

Elkie Brooks was around in the sixties but failed utterly to make an impact in that decade. She eventually achieved success in the late seventies and remained popular throughout the eighties and nineties, though her chart success was patchy. Elkie's soulful voice is well suited to the songs she recorded. Elkie was particularly good at cover versions, always stamping her own identity on any songs that she recorded. So good were here covers that some of them are indelibly associated with Elkie. Don't cry out loud (a Peter Allen song) will forever be thought of by most Brits as an Elkie Brooks original. And if you ask most Brits who Peter Allen is, chances are that they'll tell you he's a BBC radio presenter (of course, that's a different Peter Allen).

John Beaulieu - Calendula (1997)
Mp3 320 Kbps | Total Time: 00:59:30
Genre: New Age, Relax, Meditation

All 16 tracks are in 2 parts! Side 1: Tracks 1-10, side 2: tracks: 11-16!! Now about the album: According to Johon Beaulieu, the body can be tunned like a musical instrument. After lisening with my soul this recording I definitely aggree with Mr Beaulieu. Definitely he knows what he is talking about... This album consists of the sounds of tunning forks but it is not "music" for entretaiment if you think so you will definitely be disappointed with this album. This CD is for cultivate true lisening to meditate and to help you recover your health. I have not found anything better to meditate. Thank you John for sharing your knowledge with us...

Rod Piazza - From The Start To The Finnish (1985)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 109 Mb | Total Time: 00:40:10
Genre: Blues, Modern Electric Blues

I've seen these guys countless times. They alway put on a great show. Miss Honey on those key boards, "unreal"/ Rod and his band are always at the top of their form. This set of songs is great. If you ever get a chane to see them in person, do not pass it up. They are "SMOKIN"

Rod Piazza - Vintage Live 1975 (1998)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 99 Mb | Total Time: 00:41:07
Genre: Blues, Modern Electric Blues

This is early Rod Piazza. He was young and full of energy. Here on this live set we see him burn through plenty of tracks a la Paul Butterfield. Although many people get tired of that kind of blues, you can't go wrong. It will always sound good. Rod also has a good band playing with him. One of whom is Larry Taylor on bass who played with John Mayall on the "Jazz Blues Fusion" and "USA Union" albums. If you are a true Piazza fan then you don't need convincing and if you want a good solid blues harp album, pick this up, it is tough stuff.

Michael Hoppe, Tim Wheater - Wind Songs (1996)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 99 Mb | Total Time: 00:41:29
Genre: New Age, Performer, Flute

Loved it. Hoppe and Wheater create truely beautiful and healing music that is like no other I have heard. I found the album "Yearnings to be deeply emotional and healing. "Wind Songs" is as beautiful, but slightly less emotional/sad and more even kiel than "Yearnings". "Wind Songs" is soothing to listen to anytime.
