The Concerti Grossi Opus 3 by George Frideric Handel are probably the most famous and most frequently performed work of the composer. And although these pieces are so often presented, the ensemble Silete Venti! conducted by Corrado Rovaris, develope from the six Concerti something unique thanx to their Italian heritage.
The record is supplemented with a world premiere recording of the Concerto doppio "di Signore Handel" in G minor.

Giovanni Sgambati was born in Rome and he died there. Bald facts tell only part of the story. He was in fact no parochialist and briefly his music permeated European and American cultural life with celebrity premieres by no means unusual in the period 1880-1905. He was out of the ordinary as an Italian composer in not writing opera.

Gothic Voices is one of the leading English medieval ensembles. Its director, Christopher Page, is known primarily for his arguments in favor of performing medieval secular polyphony entirely by voices. The group has acted as a crucible for these ideas, and has included some of England's finest early music singers since its founding in 1980. For those who are not familiar with the Bach Collegium Japan, it is an orchestra and choir founded in 1990 by their director and keyboard player Masaaki Suzuki. The orchestra is renowned as Japan’s leading period instrument players applying their historically informed knowledge of sacred baroque music and specialising in the work of J.S. Bach. The chosen venue for Suzuki’s cycle of recordings has been the Shoin Women’s University Chapel in Kobe, Japan.
Suzuki really is a master of his art directing impeccable vocal and instrumental performances.

The complete 104 symphonies by Joseph Haydn, performed by the Austro-Hungarian Haydn Orchestra conducted by Adam Fischer has been given the top 'Rosette' award by the Penguin Guide to recorded music. This orchestra was especially formed for these recordings by first-class players from the Wiener Philharmonic and the Hungarian State Orchestra , the performances were recorded in the Esterhazy Palace, Austria from 1987-2001.
