"Diana Ross" (later reissued as "Ain't No Mountain High Enough") was the debut solo album for Diana Ross.
The album was the ultimate test to see if the former Supremes frontwoman could make it as a solo act. With the help of the songwriting-producing team of Nickolas Ashford & Valerie Simpson, Ross turned out a successful album. Ross did extensive work with other producers before settling with Ashford & Simpson, including Johhny Bristol, producer of her final single with The Supremes, "Someday We'll Be Together". Bristol here produces "These Things Will Keep Me Loving You"; the rest of the LP is fully written and produced by Ashford & Simpson.

It's tempting to call this review "Her Best from the 80's," but Niecy had an abundance of good songs spread out over all of her 80's albums; and depending on the mood one's in, each could be considered "her best" at different times.

Kiki Dee - Perfect Timing...Plus (1981) [2008, Remastered with Bonus Tracks]
Pop/Rock, Soft Rock, Contemporary | EAC Rip | FLAC, Img+CUE + LOG + Full Scans | 64:02 Min | 464,06 Mb
Label: Edsel Records (EU) | Released: 2008, April, 29

Perfect Timing is an album of great substance by Kiki Dee, surrounding herself with more top-notch players and very strong material. Elton John duets on the Stevie Wonder/Ivy Hunter gem, and of course it's good, but other songs are the standouts here: Chris Bradford's "Wild Eyes"; Dee's co-write with Eric Kaz, "There's a Need"; pianist Bias Boshell's "You Are My Hope in This World"; and the beautiful title track, "Perfect Timing."

Barry Manilow - Manilow (1985) [2008, Remastered]
Pop/Rock, Soft Rock, Synth-pop, Electronic | EAC Rip | FLAC, Img+CUE + LOG + Full Scans-600dpi | 41:55 Min | 316,80 Mb
Label: Arista / RCA/Legacy | Released: 2009, February, 24

"Manilow" was the self-titled album released in 1985 by singer-songwriter Barry Manilow. The album had little impact on the charts. The album features 1980s style rock n' roll with heavy synthesizers. He was lured away from Arista Records, but as cited by Manilow in an interview, the executives who brought him over were no longer there when the album was released. This may have led to poor record sales, as well as the album sound being primarily a modern uptempo and synthesized release sharply different from Manilow's renowned piano ballads.
