Modern Life Is Rubbish is the second album by English alternative rock band Blur, released in May 1993. Although their debut album Leisure (1991) had been commercially successful, Blur faced a severe media backlash soon after its release, and fell out of public favour. After the group returned from an unsuccessful tour of the United States, poorly received live performances and the rising popularity of rival band Suede further diminished Blur's status in the UK. Under threat of being dropped by Food Records, for their next album Blur underwent an image makeover championed by frontman Damon Albarn...

The Monkees were a pop rock group. Assembled in Los Angeles in 1966 by Robert "Bob" Rafelson and Bert Schneider for the American television series The Monkees, which aired from 1966 to 1968, the musical acting quartet was composed of Americans Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork, and Englishman Davy Jones. All music was supervised by producer Don Kirshner. At the time of the group's formation, its producers saw The Monkees as a Beatles-like band. At the start, the band members provided vocals, and were given some performing and production opportunities, but they eventually fought for and earned the right to collectively supervise all musical output under the band's name. The group undertook several concert tours, allowing an opportunity to perform as a live band as well as on the TV series.

DANCER were formed from remnants of Isle of Wight folk rockers SHIDE & ACORN and future famed film director the late Anthony Minghella. Minghella had previously appeared as keyboardist in a small jazz group known as EARTHLIGHT. The musicians were discovered by Wilf Pine, former manager of BLACK SABBATH and future reputed ranking member of the Gotti mafia syndicate in the United States. Pine secured the group studio time at Olympia in the Barnes suburb of London in 1972, where they recorded seven tracks over a month's period under the direction of GROUNDHOGS guitarist Tony McPhee. McPhee, despite having an arm in a cast offered the guitar solo to close the title track. DANCER dissolved soon afterwards and their recordings remained forgotten until copies emerged nearly thirty years later and were released by Kissing Spell.

As the title of their “Greatest Hits” collection indicates, the Wallflowers spent a decade together from the mid-‘90s into the new millennium where they offered up classic roots rock and singer-songwriter introspection with a modern twist. Led by Jakob Dylan, the son of popular music’s most legendary singer-songwriter, the Wallflowers released five studio albums, topped the charts with tunes such as this collection’s lead-off cut, the spooky, organ-haunted “One Headlight” and the equally atmospheric “6th Avenue Heartache,” and even won a couple of GRAMMY awards in the process......

The Wallflowers - (Breach) (2000)
EAC Rip | FLAC, IMG+CUE, LOG | 293 MB | 42,51 Min | Covers
Label: Interscope | Rock, Alternative Rock | October 2000 | RAR 3% Rec.

When Jakob Dylan first debuted with the Wallflowers, nobody expected that he would ever escape the shadow of his famous father, and those doubts hung heavily above the band until their second album, Bringing Down the Horse, became an unexpected multi-platinum smash. In light of that success, Dylan became his own man, no longer seen as only Bob's kid. That freedom is evident on the Wallflowers' superb third album, Breach. At the time of its fall 2000 release, there was a lot of attention paid to Jakob finally writing about Bob, a subject he steadfastly ignored before, and it is true that several songs do clearly acknowledge his famous father. But that's not the most noteworthy thing about the album. What's remarkable about the album is that he is assured as a songwriter and bandleader.
