Francis Albert "Frank" Sinatra was an American singer and actor. Beginning his musical career in the swing era with Harry James and Tommy Dorsey, Sinatra became a successful solo artist in the early to mid-1940s, being the idol of the "bobby soxers." His professional career had stalled by the 1950s, but it was reborn in 1954 after he won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor (for his performance in From Here to Eternity).

Carlos Augusto Alves Santana is a Mexican-American rock guitarist. Santana became famous in the late 1960s and early 1970s with his band, Santana, which pioneered rock, salsa and jazz fusion. The band's sound featured his melodic, blues-based guitar lines set against Latin and African rhythms featuring percussion instruments such as timbales and congas not generally heard in rock music.

With a subtle change in musical direction, yet still retaining the band's identity, Jill Saward became their lead singer to make Shakatak's fifth album, "Down on the Street".The resulting single releases "Down on the Street" and "Watching You" had some success, and brought them attention in new parts of the world. The following year saw the release of the group's first live album, which was recorded in both Tokyo and London.

On this 2007 album, romance-obsessed trumpeter Chris Botti looks to Italy for inspiration. A set of swooning smooth-jazz tunes, ITALIA features a number of guest vocalists, including Andrea Bocelli (on the gentle title track) and Paula Cole (a spare, elegant version of "The Very Thought of You"), along with the late Dean Martin, whose unmistakable croon turns up on a lightly swinging rendition of "I've Grown Accustomed to Your Face."
