The Cuban Machito was an influential Latin jazz musician, which helped improve both initial Afro-Cuban jazz, Latin jazz first stage, as the 'salsa' and created the Cubop (fusion of Cuban music and jazz bebop) . This album is a compilation produced two years after his death and brings 12 songs from his repertoire differentiating chachachás and mambos. Machito died from a heart attack performing at a concert at Ronnie Scott's in London.

One of the best lyric tenors in the world in the second half of the twentieth century is the Spanish Alfredo Kraus (1927-1999), also considered the greatest in bel canto of his generation. The great master and lyric teacher was no friend to make concessions out of the musical repertoire that was more suited to his voice and style, but this album, recorded and released in 1965 and reissued in the 90s, is one of those rare samples. Kraus is accompanied by Tuna of Fray Luis de León College of Madrid and plays a total of 12 items of typical rondallas.

Along Sadao with sopranino, alto flute, eight soloists accompanying instruments like piano and keyboards, drums and congas, trumpet, trombone, tenor and soprano sax, cello, 8 violins and two violas, integrating a gang of up to 19 musicians.Sadao remains a very controversial musician, particularly among jazz classics, many of which do not recognize in this musical style. This live performance offered an hybrid repertoire from naturalist music, spiritual music, the jazz –wandering free jazz- and Latin jazz.

'Banda Primitiva de Lliria' was founded in 1819 in that city of Valencia (Spain). The Musical Athenaeum is the nonprofit association responsible for maintenance of the band, orchestra and chorus, and a school of music education at all levels. This Band is the oldest one in Spain. In his career, next to the two centuries of life, has been honored with numerous awards, both in Spain and abroad. This album was recorded under the direction of Ramón Ramírez Beneyto, who directed it between 1996 and 2000.

Eddie Palmieri – Azúcar pa' tí (1965)

Eddie Palmieri, one of the most innovative artists of Latin music and a pioneer of salsa, at age 25 created a group 'La Perfecta' in 1961, with trombonist Barry Rogers and singer Ismael Quintana. The great percussionist Manny Oquendo also supports the recording, specially on timbales. This is one of the first bands of salsa Yorkers, who served until the end in 1968 due to financial problems. These are very experimental first records of the future evolution of salsa music on the music stand of fashion beats in those years. This is the first recording in which Eddie plays the piano 'montuno' –chromatic playing of syncopated character- with the left hand, while making solo with the right one. The singing voice is that of the great Ismael Quintana.

The harmonic player, composer and professor Tommy Reilly (Ontario, 1919-2000) offers here one of his recordings with orchestra of German musician and director Kai Warner (1926-1982), brother of the well known director James Last. Reilly in 1967 designed a concert harmonica that was manufactured by the Hohner house. In collaboration with Kai Warner performed this compendium of 12 Latin-themed pieces (in other editions entitled 'America armonica'). The harmonica, a small instrument usually underestimated, is large by the hand of a virtuoso like Tommy Reilly.

Compilation album by German violinist and conductor Alfred Hause, died in 2005. In his country was known as the 'king of tango', which made his continental orchestral style called 'European'-very common in competitive dancing-marking repetitive rhythm, unlike the Argentine genuine. This CD collects 18 of his orchestra performances in that style. The repertoire is varied although does not include some of the most typical and classic tangos with other less common and more of thematic source from several European countries.
