Earth, Sun, Moon is the third album by the British band Love and Rockets, released in 1987 on Beggar's Banquet. While the album continued in a psychedelic vein, the band also experimented with a folkier sound. Vestiges of a gothic rock sound remained, but the band continued to sound less like their previous outfit, Bauhaus. Earth, Sun, Moon featured Love and Rockets' first hit, "No New Tale to Tell". The song reached #18 on the US Mainstream Rock chart.

Label: Factory Records | Recorded: Mediterranean Studios, Ibiza, and Real World Studios Box, Wiltshire | Year: 1989

Technique is the fifth original album by New Order, released in 1989. Partly recorded on the island of Ibiza, it incorporates Balearic beat and acid house influences into the group's electro/rock sound.Technique was the first New Order album to reach number one in the UK charts. "Fine Time", the first single lifted from it, reached number 11. The album entered the charts at number one in the UK and contained a mix of the acid house influence (as on "Fine Time," the opening track) and a more traditional guitar-bass-drums sound on others (such as the single "Run 2"). The album is a blend of occasionally upbeat, accessible music coupled with blunt, poignant lyrics. During the summer of 1989, New Order supported Technique by touring with Public Image Ltd. and The Sugarcubes across the United States and Canada in what was the press dubbed the "Monsters of Alternative Rock" tour. In 2006, Q magazine placed the album at #21 in its list of "40 Best Albums of the '80s".

Label: Beggars Banquet Records | Year: 1985

This Nation's Saving Grace is an LP by The Fall, originally released in 1985. It reached number 58 in the UK charts. At the beginning of 1985, the group were without Paul Hanley, who left after completing the group's 1984 tour, as well as his brother, bassist Steve Hanley who took four months paternity leave from the band in the early part of the year. A tour was undertaken and the group recorded the double a-sided single "Couldn't Get Ahead / Rollin' Dany" and subsequent single "Cruiser's Creek" with Simon Rogers standing in on bass. The group had met Rogers through ballet dancer Michael Clark and he had already co-produced the early recordings of Brix Smith's other group The Adult Net. When Hanley returned, Rogers remained with the group, switching to guitar and keyboards - Hanley's return was marked with the inscription "S Hanley! He's Back" on the run-out groove of side one of the album. The album is frequently cited as one of the group's finest. It ranked at #46 in Spin's "100 Greatest Albums 1985-2005" and the CD edition was awarded the rare accolade of 10.0/10 by Pitchfork Media.

Cabaret Voltaire - The Conversation (1994) 2CD
Electronic | EAC Rip / FLAC / LOG, CUE / 621 MB | MP3 320kbps / 44100Hz / 301 MB | 131:28
Label: Apollo R&S Records | Recorded: Western Works, Sheffield, England | Year: 1994

This two-CD set, with the entire second CD taken up by only two tracks, "Project 80" and "Exterminating Angel (Outro)," was released in 1994. The curious credit "composed, programmed, arranged, and sonically orchestrated by Richard H. Kirk" subordinated singer/bassist/co-founder Stephen Mallinder to a supporting role and left longtime Cabaret Voltaire fans wondering how equal the duo's partnership had ever been. THE CONVERSATION sounds remarkably like Cabaret Voltaire's early-to-mid-'80s work. The presence of more "normal" industrial-dance elements, prevalent in the band's work since 1987's CODE,are downplayed in favor of trance-inducing extended drones overlaid with manipulated sounds and voices. "Brutal But Clean" and the fascinating "Harmonic Parallel" are particularly impressive. Either would have fit comfortably on Cabaret Voltaire's best earlier albums, THE CRACKDOWN and MICROPHONIES.
