Inti-Illimani .:. Pequeño Mundo.:. 2006
Latin, Andean Folk | MP3 192 | Playtime 43:03 | RAR 61 Mb | Covers

Recently, Inti Illimani has evolved to include many newer and younger band members. Likened to an “archetype,” Inti Illimani’s current manifestation is an eight piece ensemble complete with a brand new album, Pequeño Mundo. Pequeño Mundo has yet to be
released in the United States. When it becomes available, fans can expect a perfect balance between the band’s historical legacy and a continued innovativeness. Manuel Meriño, the group’s artistic director, composed one of Pequeño Mundo’s brightest moments; “Rondombe,” a percussion heavy jazz flavored instrumental. Featuring former members and long time collaborators, Pequeño Mundo also harkens back to the early beginnings of Nueva Cancion with a remake of 1965 song by Patricio Manns, “La Guitarrera Que Toca.” Jorge Coulon, the last active founding member, believes that Pequeño Mundo “takes the sound and identity of Inti Ilimani like a starting base, but has a strong presence of the points of view of the younger musicians in the group. The blend between the roots, the strong musical identity and esthetic concept of Inti Illmani and the energy and innovative power of the new generation gives Pequeño Mundo a very special “aura.” It's a very good CD to celebrate 40 years.

Bobby Enriquez .:. Wildman Returns .:. 1993
Jazz | Time 59:12 | RAR 84 Mb | MP3 192 kbps | Front cover

Bobby Enriquez earned his nickname of the "Wildman" due to his remarkable technique on the piano, his hyper style, and his tendency to toss in lots of crazy song quotes. For this later effort, Enriquez is teamed with bassist Ray Brown and drummer Al Foster for a set of mostly standards including such oddball items as "Blue Hawaii" and the "Pink Panther Theme." He starts out with two reasonably mellow numbers, really takes off during "Groovin' High," and never lets up until he cools down a bit with the closing "Misty." This cat could certainly play.

Aikido :: Andre Lemonnier (1969)
Spanish | PDF Book | 137 pages | RAR 13 Mb | NO ISBN | Editorial Caymi

Peter Erskine: Juni :: 1997 :: ECM 1657
Jazz | Playtime 50:43 | Front cover | MP3 192k > 73 Mb

The Peter Erskine trio's graceful European style is expertly captured on JUNI, their fourth release on Manfred Eicher's ECM label. Erskine, a drummer of international fame who hassuccessfully proven his superb musical abilities in a myriad of styles, is perfectly at home in this delicate, extremely expressive setting. His partners John Taylor (piano) and Pelle Danielsson (bass) are, of course, very adept at the complexities of the European jazz style that touches on the classical chamber music tradition.

Brad Mehldau - the art of the trio, vol.5 - Progression
Genre: Jazz | MP3 256 Kbps | 2000 | Playtime 75:05-68:59 | RAR 2x47-2x44 Mb

Personnel: Brad Mehldau (piano); Larry Grenadier (bass); Jorge Rossy (drums). Recorded at Village Vanguard, New York, New York on September 22-24, 2000. Includes liner notes by Brad Mehldau. On this, Brad Mehldau's fifth installment of trio records, he returns to his jazzier roots by playing a series of standard tunes including "Long Ago and Far Away," "Alone Together," and "How Long Has This Been Going On." Recorded live at the Village Vanguard, this two-disc set offers listeners 13 chances to hear this band's cerebral swing. The opening track, the Mack Gordon/Harry Warren tune, "The More I See You" shows off Mehldau's improvisational skill as he whips around the keyboard, playing flurries of notes. Other songs such as "Cry Me A River" bring out Mehldau's experimental edge, as he employs a series of soft yet sharp accents on the piano. Sometimes lyrical, sometimes percussive, Mehldau playing runs the gamut from familiar jazz stylings to eccentric, free-floating detours. Only true fans only will spend the time to read Mehldau's liner notes though. A dry, lengthy discourse on music and mankind--squeezed into a nine-point font--gives the feeling that Mehldau is digging in a little deeper than may be necessary.

Chris Potter - Gratitude (2001)
Genre: Jazz | MP3 256 Kbps | Playtime 71:02 | RAR 69+66 Mb

Saxophonist/flutist/bass clarinetist Chris Potter played with a lot of musicians in the 1990s--from Renee Rosnes to Grammy winners Steely Dan. On his first CD for Verve, he's backed by drummer Brian Blade, bassist Scott Colley, and keyboardist Kevin Hays, and the leader pays tribute to the great saxmasters of jazz with his muscular tenor tones and snaky soprano lines. "The Source" is a second-line-tempo take on John Coltrane's "sheets of sound." "Shadow" is a moody look at Joe Henderson, and the "saxophone colossus," Sonny Rollins, is heralded on the Latin-tinged "Sun King." Coleman Hawkins's "Body and Soul" comes courtesy of Potter's bass clarinet, and Ornette Coleman's "Vox Humana" gets an Asian-toned flute treatment. Potter's love letter to his elders is music to our ears. --Eugene Holley Jr.
