While this soundtrack is very solid overall, it's also rather subdued and perhaps not as immediately likable as composer Alexandre Desplat's previous offerings (most notably The Queen and Syriana), so it could disappoint fans of the immensely gifted Frenchman.

The stunning and atmospheric film score was written by electronic masterminds Underworld in collaboration with legendary composer Gabriel Yared (The English Patient, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Cold Mountain). Meditative and ethereal, the original score for Breaking and Entering is musical impressionism and unlike anything of Gabriel Yared's in the past, and certainly not what one would expect from the dance history of Underworld.
