A Christianity That Really Works
Publisher: Whitaker House | ISBN: 0883682710 | edition 1995 | PDF | 157 pages | 1,68 mb

How I praise God for introducing me to a Christianity that really works and for the privilege of sharing it with you. I am unworthy of the task. My heart still aches that over the years I have grieved my Lord so terribly and hurt so many folks. I repent and revel in His marvelous love, mercy, and grace, and beg the forgiveness of all I have injured.
I have found most of the Lord’s people are similarly disappointed with their Christian lives, and I want to offer them the help with which the Lord has helped me. Most believe that Christianity really does work or at least it’s supposed to. But for many, it doesn’t quite seem to not as they would like, anyway.

Our Last Mission: A World War II Prisoner in Germany
Publisher: University of Oklahoma Press | ISBN: 0806135476 | edition 2003 | PDF | 259 pages | 11,96 mb

In this remarkable tale of courage, historian Dawn Trimble Bunyak recounts the experiences of her uncle, Lawrence Pifer, a technical sergeant who survived fourteen months of internment as a prisoner of war in World War II Nazi Germany. A radio operator and ball turret gunner on the American B-17 bomber Slightly Dangerous, Pifer was shot down during a raid on March 4, 1944. As he parachuted from the plummeting plane, Pifer witnessed the deaths of two of his fellow crewmembers. Captured by Nazi soldiers and taken to a series of German Stalag Luft camps, Pifer and other servicemen-mostly in their teens and twenties-endured torture, starvation, disease, and forced marches. When British forces liberated Pifer's group, he pushed his POW experiences deep into the recesses of his mind, not to recall them in detail for decades. Years later, a POW group at a Veterans Administration hospital helped Pifer realize that he was ready to tell his story. After forty hours of interviews with Pifer, Dawn Trimble Bunyak retells the enthralling story of an average enlisted man's struggle to survive in the face of hopelessness, with only his strong faith and pride in country to sustain him.

This Man's Army: A Soldier's Story from the Frontlines of the War on Terrorism
Publisher: Gotham | ISBN: 1592400639 | edition 2004 | PDF | 256 pages | 10,94 mb

The American war in Afghanistan has been overshadowed by the war in Iraq. But since October 2001, American soldiers have been fighting the Taliban and Al Qaeda in Afghanistan under often brutal guerrilla war conditions. The author of this war memoir, an active-day army officer, has had his identity embargoed until the book's publication. The book is a fast-paced, first-person look at the war through the educated eyes of a 25-year-old Ivy Leagueâ€"schooled Army Ranger who fought with the 10th Mountain Division in Afghanistan in 2002 (and also in Iraq). The narrative, which confines its battle sequences to Afghanistan and contains a fair amount of reconstructed dialogue, follows the standard war memoir formula. It opens in the battlefield, then flashes back to a chronological rendering of the author's life, including the required depiction of the rigors of military training, complete with bellowing, sadistic drill instructors.

My First Mrcp Book
Publisher: Remedica Publishing | ISBN: 1901346501 | edition 2003 | PDF | 318 pages | 3,64 mb

You can’t pass the MRCP without knowing a good deal of medicine. But, there are two main problems with learning medicine: there is a vast amount to learn and much of it is terribly dull. Most texts designed to help aspiring students adhere to this philosophy of dullness. THIS BOOK IS DIFFERENT! Every piece of educational theory available has been applied to make the learning experience as easy as possible: there are charts and tables, pictures and puzzles, limericks and poems, and even word searches – all complemented by a clear text. The authors are well trained in medicine. They are also old hands at the MRCP – in some cases, enjoying it so much that they had several goes at it! The results of their hard work? This book – the first structured course in not just what to learn, but how to learn it. Assuming only basic medical knowledge, it allows you to ‘start at the beginning and go to the end’ and, in the process, develop a core knowledge and, more importantly, a technique to apply.

Passionate Medicine: Making The Transition From Conventional Medicine To Homeopathy
Publisher: Jessica Kingsley Publishers | ISBN: 1843102986 | edition 2005 | PDF | 193 pages | 1,63 mb

Passionate Medicine is a compelling record of the journeys of five doctors and two veterinary surgeons from conventional medicine to homeopathy. In search of truth and healing in their profession, the contributors challenge the shortcomings of conventional medical training and methods, in particular the notion that effective clinicians should be objective and emotionally detached. Their insightful autobiographical stories clearly demonstrate the cost of the 'dehumanising' principle to the medical profession and argue for a more holistic, caring model that regards self-knowledge, passion and the ability to create successful practitioner-patient relationships as central to the healing process. The contributors make a convincing case for the inherent ability of people to heal themselves and for the changing role of the clinician from expert to facilitator. This book is a thoughtful and illuminating consideration of the relationship between the medical profession and alternative therapies, and will prove compelling reading for all trainee and practising medical professionals.
