Berlin 2007 was a monumental performance for Cluster as it marked the first time that they had peformed live in Berlin since their 12 hour concert in the Galerie Hammer in the Europacenter in 1969. The performance was a massive success as a sold out crowd cheered loudly for Cluster to return to the stage. Fortunately, the concert was preserved for posterity and is proudly presented here on Important Records.

Drawn from various sessions recorded between March 1969 and March 1970 some of the music featured on this disc originally appeared on the album Nine To The Universe. At the time of the albums release (1980) many suggested that Jimi was heading in a jazz direction although the recordings show no real sign of this despite featuring contributions from known jazzers such as Larry Young and Dave Holland both of whom had worked with British jazz guitarist John McLaughlin and worked along with McLaughlin on the landmark Miles Davis album Bitches Brew.<br/>
The recordings here are the unedited recordings that Alan Douglas utilised to make his final selection on the original Nine To The Universe album.

Two avantgarde heroes have teamed up for a unique collaboration that was started by Hans-Joachim Roedelius in Austria and then processed by Morgan Fisher in Japan. Ambient soundscapes with an Asian touch, meditative, repetitive and very seductive.

Zuckerzeit is the third full-length album by German electronic music outfit Cluster. It was co-produced by Michael Rother, their bandmate in Harmonia (whose two releases Zuckerzeit fell between). The music on Zuckerzeit is different than any other Cluster work and clearly shows Michael Rother's influence, with clearly defined melody and beat and a very rhythmic sound, at times approaching the Motorik style of Neu!.<br/>
John Bush, writing the review for Allmusic, described Zuckerzeit as: &quot;...a vision of electronic pop, fusing the duo's haunted melodic sense with crisp, scratchy drum programs...&quot;

Hudson River Wind Meditations is an album of meditational music by Lou Reed. It is a departure from his regular rock output. It is named for one of New York City's key features, the Hudson River. It is inner music to relax the body, mind and spirit, adjunct to Tai Chi and bodywork. The cover photograph is by Lou Reed.

At The Cut is a record of overt honesty – it’s raw and uncompromising but never once forceful and it cements Vic Chesnutt as one of the most important and overlooked artists of the last 20 years. It’s endearing, it’s charming and it’s raw to the nth degree – unadulterated brilliance.<br/>

A truly extraordinary recording. Chesnutt is a songwriter of singular talents, embracing a homey but keenly intelligent expressionism in his songs that conveys a genuine, often touching humanity, but his collaborators on North Star Deserter have taken his music in a powerful new direction…they’ve truly brought out the best in one another; this is powerful, adventurous music that’s as challenging as it is beautiful, and ranks with Chesnutt’s finest work to date.<br/>

On his third, and maybe most conceptually complete, album, Vic Chesnutt emerges as that rare kind of artist who can see right into the living room of small-town America. Drunk opens with one of Chesnutt's more overtly hook-oriented songs, the punchy &quot;Sleeping Man,&quot; which also appears later in the album as a slightly twangier reprise, and is a fine commentary on the insatiable hunger for human spectacle that plagues American culture. &quot;One of Many&quot; is a bleak tale of murder and execution that finds Chesnutt truly at the top of his game lyrically and melodically.

Skitter On Take-Off is Chesnutt’s first album for Vapor Records. It was produced by indie legend Jonathan Richman and his drummer Tommy Larkin, and they had a very definite idea of how they wanted the album to sound. According to Richman, “We were both thinking that the way to get the feeling for Vic as a listener was to hear just Vic — no arrangements, no guest guitar solos, no “ironic” touches or anything else to cloud his voice or his poetry.” The end result is an album that features Chesnutt on guitar and vocals, Richman on guitar and harmonium, and Larkin on drums. It was recorded completely live, and there were no overdubs.

Allen Ginsberg toured Europe in 1980 with Peter Orlovsky and Stephen Taylor. On December 11th, still shocked by the murder of John Lennon, he improvised <i>'Prayer Blues - For John Lennon'</i> at the stage of the Schauspielhaus Wuppertal. By public demand he also read the complete text of his most famous poem: 'Howl'.
