Das Lehrbuch für Medizinstudenten besteht aus rund 840 Seiten. Der Text wirkt nicht gestaucht und kann angenehm gelesen werden. Zu jedem Unterkapitel existieren mehrere 'Merke'- und 'Definition'-Kästen, welche kurz und prägnant das wichtige aufzeigen. Hinzu kommen 660 Bilder und Grafiken, sowie 50 Tabellen. Somit reduziert sich der Text einer Seite ohne die Grafiken und das Kurzlehrbuch auf ungefähr eine DIN-A-5-Seite.

Vorteil
Vorteil der 'Dualen Reihe Biochemie' gegenüber anderen Büchern ist, dass es für Medizinstudenten und nicht für Biochemiker geschrieben worden ist. So ist fast in jedem Unterkapitel ein 'Exkurs' oder eine 'verlinkte Vorklinik', welche die konkrete Relevanz des eben behandelten Inhalts mit der Klinik aufzeigt. Ein weiterer Vorteil des Lehrbuches ist, dass es das gleiche Vokabular wie das IMPP nutzt, z. B. im Bezug auf Protein- und Enzymnamen. Das erleichtert die Physikumsvorbereitung (Synonyme sind dennoch vermerkt).
