Billy Joel - An Innocent Man
Friday Music 180g LP / FRM 213883
Mastered by Kevin Gray @ AcousTech Mastering, Camarillo

Vinyl rip in 24-bit/192kHz (converted to 24/96 & 16/44.1) | FLAC | m3u, cue & Tech Log
Artwork | 850 / 270 mb incl. recovery | Rapidshare & FileFactory | Rock | 1983

Allmusic.com rating: 4 / 5

Joel has rarely sounded so carefree either in performance or writing, possibly due to "Christie Lee" Brinkley, a supermodel who became his new love prior to An Innocent Man. He can't stop writing about her throughout the album -- only three songs, including the haunted title track, aren't about her in some form or fashion. That giddiness is infectious, helping make An Innocent Man an innocent delight that unwittingly closes Joel's classic period.
-Stephen Thomas Erlewine/AMG

The best sounding version I know and I know a lot.... Highly detailed, very dynamic and great three-dimensionality!

John Coltrane - Plays The Blues
Atlantic/Rhino 180g LP / SD 1382
Mastered by Bernie Grundman@ Grundman Mastering Hollywood

Vinyl rip in 24-bit/192kHz (converted to 24/96 & 16/44.1) | FLAC | m3u, cue & Tech Log
Artwork | 895 / 265 mb incl. recovery | Rapidshare & FileFactory | Jazz | released 1962

Allmusic.com rating: 4.5 / 5

Coltrane's sessions for Atlantic in late October 1960 were prolific, yielding the material for My Favorite Things, Coltrane Plays the Blues, and Coltrane's Sound. My Favorite Things was destined to be the most remembered and influential of these, and while Coltrane Plays the Blues is not as renowned or daring in material, it is still a powerful session.
- Richie Unterberger/AMG

Another fine sounding record. Perfectly mastered from the original master tapes by Bernie Grundman.

Thelonious Monk - 5 By Monk By 5
LP 6 of 7 LP-Box Thelonious Monk - The Riverside Tenor Sessions
Analogue Productions AAPJ 037; Mastered by Kevin Gray

Vinyl rip in 24-bit/192kHz (converted to 24/96 & 16/44.1) | FLAC (mono & stereo) | m3u, cue & Tech Log
Artwork incl. 24 p. Book | 990 / 310 mb incl. recovery | Rapidshare & FileFactory | Jazz | 1959

Allmusic.com rating: 4 / 5

The album's concept placed five Monk originals into a five-person (read: quintet) setting. Ironically, this was the first time that Monk had recorded with a lineup that so prominently displayed a "standard" bop rhythm section with both a trumpet and sax player. The quintet on Five by Monk by Five (1959) finds the pianist supported by Thad Jones (cornet), Sam Jones (bass), Art Taylor (drums), and Charlie Rouse (tenor sax) — who would continue working with the artist as Monk's (more or less) permanent tenor saxophonist for the majority of the '60s.

For many back in the early '60s, this was their first exposure to live recorded blues, and it's still pretty damn impressive some 40-plus years down the line.

.

Brand new issue by Speakers Corner. Ray Staff did an impressive job here. IMO this record sounded never that good.

Robin Trower - Bridge of Sighs
Friday Music 180g LP / FRM 10571

Allmusic.com rating: 4.5 / 5

One of the few Robin Trower albums without a weak cut, Bridge of Sighs holds up to repeated listenings as a timeless work, as well as the crown jewel in Trower's extensive yet inconsistent catalog.
- Hal Horowitz/AMG

A great sounding re-issue. IMO clearly better as the MoFi Gold-CD...

Elvis Costello & the Attractions - Armed Forces
Mobile Fidelity MFSL 1-331 180g LP
Half-speed mastered by Shawn R. Britton

Vinyl rip in 24-bit/192kHz (converted to 24/96 & 16/44.1) | FLAC | cue, m3u & Tech Log
Artwork | 800 / 240 mb incl. recovery | Rapidshare & FileFactory | Rock | 1979

Rated by Michael Fremer: Music 9/11 | Sound: 9/11

I have all of the CD reissues from Ryko to Rhino and this new 180g version beats them and even the original UK pressing, though that gives this some competition since it was cut from a fresh tape.
Reissuing Armed Forces in high quality 180g all analog vinyl is a public service in my opinion, even though Mobile Fidelity couldn’t possibly go to the time and expense of reproducing the original’s fold-open graphics and post card inserts.

Thelonious Monk with John Coltrane
LP 3 of 7 LP-Box "Thelonious Monk - The Riverside Tenor Sessions"
Analogue Productions AAPJ 037; Mastered by Kevin Gray

Vinyl rip in 24-bit/192kHz (converted to 24/96 & 16/44.1) | FLAC (mono & stereo) | m3u, cue & Tech Log
Artwork incl. 24 p. Book | 480 / 160 mb incl. recovery | Rapidshare & FileFactory | Jazz | 1958

Allmusic.com rating: 5 / 5

Much of the music on this LP is quite essential for any serious jazz library. Although Thelonious Monk and John Coltrane played together for several months in 1957, until the discovery of a live tape (which has been issued on Blue Note), the music on this record was all that existed of their historic collaboration. Coltrane developed rapidly during his period with Monk and he is heard in brilliant form on "Trinkle, Tinkle" and "Nutty."

Thelonious Monk - Monk's Music

Analogue Productions AAPJ 037; Mastered by Kevin Gray @ AcousTech Mastering

Vinyl rip in 24-bit/192kHz (converted to 24/96 & 16/44.1) | FLAC (dual-mono) | cue, m3u & Tech Log
Artwork incl. 24 p. Book | 415 / 140 mb incl. recovery | Rapidshare & FileFactory | Jazz | 1957

Allmusic.com rating: 4.5/5

Monk's Music is often cited as one of the focal points of Thelonious Monk's six-year affiliation (1955-1961) with the Riverside label. Although the original disc clocked in at slightly over 30 minutes, packed into that half hour are not only the introduction of a few of Monk's signature compositions, but also some amazing interactions from the assembled ensemble.
- Lindsay Planer/AMG

Another masterpiece by one of the greatest Jazz pianists ever. Awesome sound, Dynamic Range: 13!
