Evaristo and Tony, indigenous brothers from the northwest of Mexico , have just graduated from elementary school when they receive an assignment from their grandfather: to deliver some medicine at the other extreme of the Sierra Tarahumara. Tony and Evaristo, dreading the long road ahead, decide to take their grandfathers horse and set off on a journey that becomes longer than they expected.

When three forty-something siblings in Istanbul receive a call one night that their aging mother has disappeared from her home at the Western Black Sea Coast of Turkey, the three set out to find her, momentarily setting aside their problems. Bruno Stroszek is released from prison and ekes out a living as a street musician. He befriends Eva, a prostitute down on her luck. After they are harried and beaten by Eva's pimps, they join Bruno's neighbor, Scheitz, an elderly eccentric, when he leaves Germany to live in Wisconsin in search of the American dream.

The acting is wonderful and every actor meets demand of their character - especially Paulina Gaitan portraying Esmiralda and the child actor portraying Lina. The transition of emotions in Esmiralda, specifically when she gives her box to Augusto, and goes to meet Lina, was really wonderful and made me cry. Also, Fernando Luján does extremely well capturing the repentant father as the character of Augosto. Carmelo Gómez gives a solid performance as Iván(a troubled father and husband). Other performances are good.
