In the history of "O Terço", which has its origins in 1968, are three bands in far-off the 60 - Joint Stock Co., Hot Dog and Os Libertinos, where began the guitarist Sergio Hinds, bassist Cesar de Mercês and drummer Vinícius Cantuária. The group Os Libertino, then formed by the three aforementioned musicians, was an attraction that ruffled domingueiras of Rio de Janeiro. The band was still called Santíssima Trindade. In 1970 or 71, Caesar de Mercês is replaced by Jorge Amiden. Now change the name to O Terço. The set, as I might have guessed, was from Rio de Janeiro, but then would settle down in Sao Paulo.

Boston musician Chris Pereira and his fast slappin’ fingers filled all corners of our studio with his gorgeous crimson Spector Bass playing. We modeled this sound after the legendary Marcus Miller bass sound and sure enough, it will knock you into the next room with its punch and clarity. The Spector Bass was recorded using an all tube Ampeg bass pre-amp processor and the bulletproof Manley tube compressor. Just as Rickenbacker guitars are famous for their singular sound, Ric basses have become just as sought after for their unmistakable individuality. We sampled this Rickenbacker model 4003 black beauty in 2 different configurations; direct and played finger-style for a very 'McCartney-esque' tone and using the Ric's stereo jack to send the bridge and neck pickups through an Ampeg bass cab and a Joe Meek tube compressor, respectively.

Using close microphone techniques at Wellspring Studios in Boston, this collection captures the most natural elements of a beautiful set of DW and Pearl Drumkits. Renowned studio engineer Coleman Rogers helped us sample this kit using his arsenal of great mics, pre-amps, and compressors. After 3 days and nights sampling every drum and every cymbal, using different sticks at different velocities, at different places on the drums.

In the spirit (and quality!) of the very popular Session Drums 1, we bring you additional drums and cymbals from the same sessions. Session Drums 2 includes a gorgeous set of DW drums chosen especially for these sessions at the DW factory!
