This world premiere duo performance helped celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Ottawa Jazz Festival and is a total gas in every way, from beginning to end. Even if it didn't feature such top names in jazz today I would lean positively toward a duo like this which doesn't involve drums - just my personal thing. Branford also plays a lot of soprano sax, which is my favorite of Adolph's family. The stage is not brightly lit but neither are the images washed out or murky-looking, as on so many jazz videos. The surround sound is top rate, just as good as the best DTS tracks. When the audience goes nuts - a frequent occurrence - one really feels that you're right in the midst of it.

It was fantastic it had all the emotions of heartbreak and falling in love and also being in love, as I am going through the pain and heartbreak at the moment. I really like this guy and it was too late to save myself as I had already fallen in love with him and my feelings for him will never go away but I am afraid he doesn't love me.

Nat King Cole is one of the most popular vocalists and most extraordinary Jazz piano players of all time. He sold over 50 million records during his ground-breaking career and he was also the first black performer who, during the Forties and Fifties, hosted his own radio and TV shows. The DVD in hand presents the live recording of a concert held at the Savoy Theatre London in 1985 in which various artists pay homage to the great artist Nat King Cole by presenting their interpretations of his most popular songs.

Recorded in late 1987, his hour-long concert documents a transitional period for Fleetwood Mac, with Lindsey Buckingham, their driving force, having left (until '97) that same year. It's a testament to Buckingham's role in the band that it took two guitarist-singers to replace him; but while Billy Burnette and Rick Vito are fine musicians with an abiding respect for the Mac legacy (they perform founding member Peter Green's "Oh Well" and "I Loved Another Woman"), this is a mostly lackluster affair, lacking Buckingham's fire and eccentric stage presence.

Obviously put together with a great deal of love, both by director Gary Keys and Ruth Ellington Boatwright (Duke Ellington’s sister, who for 23 years after his death celebrated Duke’s birthday with a gathering of family, friends, and musicians each year), Duke Ellington: Reminiscing In Tempo, released by MVDvisual on March 22, 2011, stands out among music DVDs. A musician who was told by his parents ever since he was a child that he was special and blessed, during a time of racial discrimination as he was growing up in Washington, D.C., Duke Ellington became well-known and moved his mother and sister to live with him in New York City, where he was so over-protective of Ruth that he never let her go out at night or have a social life.

This incredible performance DVD was recorded in front of a packed house of adoring fans at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, California on January 21, 2007. On this, his first Music DVD, Donovan performed all his legendary hits and cult classics. Master filmmaker David Lynch introduced the concert held to benefit the David Lynch Foundation for Consciousness-Based Education and World Peace; a program which funds in-school Transcendental Meditation programs for at-risk youth.

This concert was recorded in Hollywood in Spring 2005. It features tracks from her most recent album, Before the Poison, along with other hits and classic track. The DVD also includes a 30-minute interview with Marianne and an original video. In the heady days of swinging London, Marianne Faithfull was a waifish mod singing orchestral pop versions of Rolling Stones songs.

The release of Jazz Icons is like the unearthing of a musical time capsule - an audio-visual treasure trove of the music that changed the world. From Big Band and Bebop to Dixieland and Cool, it's all here and it all swings. These jazz legends, from Dizzy and Count to Louis and Ella, are the Bachs and Beethovens of our generation. From an educational standpoint this series is a gift to our culture. I'm honored to be a featured part of it, but I'm more thrilled just to sit down and watch it with my grandkids. (Quincy Jones)
