Terry Quiett Band - Just My Luck (2011)
EAC Rip | FLAC (Image) + CUE + LOG | Covers | 357 MB
Genre: Blues/Rock | Label: Lucky Bag | Catalog Number: LB2011
RAR 5% Rec. | FilePost + Rapidshare | Release Date: 2011

Just My Luck, the latest album from the Terry Quiett Band, is an album that proves that music is just as much about feeling and expression as it is technique and ability. While Quiett is obviously a very good musician from a technical standpoint (which is proven by his unbelievable vocals on “Close to You” and gutsy guitar solos on “Satisfied” and “Getting Through to Me”), most of the album is very simple, but it is also extremely genuine and heartfelt. The first thing that stands out about this album is that the band really does sound like a band....

John Campbelljohn - Under The Blue Cover (2000)

Genre: Blues/Modern-Electric/Celtic-Blues | Label: Nood Records | Catalog Number: 004
RAR 5% Rec. | FilePost + Rapidshare | Release Date: 2000

The album was recorded live in the Studio, along with Daniel Ruiz Estrada (piano, organ), Steve Harrish (bass), Stephen Morin (drums) and played on three songs with Joe Murphy (harmonica). With what damn casual relaxed, he and the band interpreted here well-known and lesser-known songs, already bordering the insolence.Where a Gary Moore recorded his "walking by myself" on "Still got the Blues" in a violent way, Campbelljohn Estrada leaves the introduction to the song Daniel Ruiz on piano. Also vocally he brings out more quite a bit from the song, as it is capable of Moore at all."Walking by myself" is equipped with a slide solo, but the lion's share is part of the fine strumming of Estrada....

Jason Ricci & New Blood - Done With The Devil (2009)

Genre: Blues/Blues-Rock | Label: Eclecto Groove Records | Catalog Number: 505
RAR 5% Rec. | FilePost + Rapidshare | Release Date: Apr 21, 2009

The three pages of liner notes squished into eye-straining type that greet the purchaser of Jason Ricci and his band's highly anticipated follow-up to their roaring 2007 debut for the appropriately named Eclecto Groove label, boil down to this: it's a group effort with Ricci as only one component, and the members understand that their genre-mashing approach is not strictly blues, but they don't care. There's a lot more, of course, but one listen to this set that shifts from good-timey shuffles such as the sunshiny "Sweet Lovin'" to the jazz-rock fusion of the following "Holler for Craig Lawler" and the Latin influenced instrumental "Ptryptophan Pterodactyl" is enough to convince any newcomer that Ricci and co.....

RAR 5% Rec. | FilePost + Rapidshare | Release Date: Aug 25, 2009

Although he has been singing the blues, by his count, for 60 years, Big Pete Pearson did not start making records under his own name until the year he became eligible for Medicare. Since then, however, he seems to have been making up for lost time. And, when you're 72, why wait? On The Screamer, he is accompanied by his regular blues band, led by bassist and songwriter Terry Davis. The band churns out familiar blues tunes....

This time, he's showing us why he's loved in Deutschland. Recorded with a loving club audience, Campbelljohn is in solo mode for this disc, proving his mastery at slide, mandolin, and fun....

David Gogo - Soul Bender (2011)
EAC Rip | FLAC (Image) + CUE + LOG | Covers | 298 MB
Genre: Blues/Blues-Rock | Label: DixieFrog | Catalog Number: DFGCD 8711
RAR 5% Rec. | FilePost + Rapidshare | Release Date: Sep 26, 2011

"I can't fit into my skinny black jeans anymore," laments veteran blues rocker David Gogo on the appropriately titled, hard-driving, Stones-inflected, and likely autobiographical "Getting Old." Only in his early forties at the time of its 2011 release, he's obviously not letting fears of his advancing years slow or dull his attack, as his sixth release in a decade shows. Gogo isn't a particularly distinctive guitarist, but as this disc's title implies (Soul-Bender is also the name of the Fulltone guitar pedal he uses)....

Genre: Blues/Acoustic-Blues | Label: Bluesville/Original Blues Classics | Catalog Number: 561
RAR 5% Rec. | FilePost + Rapidshare | Release Date: Mar 1963 | Recording Date: Apr 1962

Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee were the ultimate blues duo; McGhee's stylized singing and light, flickering guitar was wonderfully contrasted by Terry's sweeping, whirling harmonica solos and intense, country-tinged singing. They were in great form during the ten tunes featured on this live date....

RAR 5% Rec. | FilePost + Rapidshare | Release Date: Mar 12, 2012 | Recording Date: Jun 22, 1968 - Jun 23, 1968

The first entry in the Bear's Sonic Journals series is, without question, a stunner. "Bear" (Augustus Owsley Stanley III), the Grateful Dead's live soundman, built and manned the sound system at the Carousel Ballroom. He personally supervised this previously unreleased effort (items from it have appeared on the Joplin box with crummy sound) shortly before his untimely death in an automobile accident in 2011. (He even provides listening instructions via a brief liner essay....

Genre: Blues/Electric Blues | Label: Southwest Musical Arts Fnd. | Catalog Number: SMWAF05
RAR 5% Rec. | FilePost + Rapidshare | Release Date: Jul 7, 2009

Big Pete Pearson grew up singing and playing guitar and bass in the juke joints of Austin, TX, long before that town became a Mecca for maverick musicians. He sang in church too, but was playing in bars by the time he was nine, including a stint with T.D. Bell & the Cadillacs. He grew up singing alongside his cousin W.C. Clark, today considered the godfather of the Austin blues scene. In his late twenties, Pearson moved to Phoenix, AZ where he is still based....

Genre: Blues/Blues-Rock | Label: Eclecto Groove Records | Catalog Number: EGRCD 502
RAR 5% Rec. | FilePost + Rapidshare | Release Date: Oct 23, 2007

With his pink hair, sullen, expressionless face, and black clothes, harp blower Jason Ricci looks more art damaged emo kid than bluesman, but looks can be deceiving. Ricci tours relentlessly and has brought plenty of new fans to the genre with an approach that combines spacy, jam band meandering, the almost metallic guitar attack of Shawn Starski, and wide open arrangements that touch on jazz, rock, funk, Arab, punk, and, of course, blues.....

Derek Miller - The Dirty Looks (2006)
EAC Rip | FLAC (Image) + CUE + LOG | Covers | 342 MB
Genre: Pop/Rock/Roots Rock/Blues-Rock | Label: Arbor Records | Catalog Number: AR13062
RAR 5% Rec. | FilePost + Rapidshare | Release Date: Oct 16, 2006

Guitarist Derek Miller is a great bluesman in the vein of Eric Clapton and Jeff Healey. And while his live shows are incredibly energetic and mesmerizing, this album is a great source of big, brawny blues-rock in the vein of Canadian act Big Sugar. The album opens with the seedy, slinky "Devil Come Down Sunday," which has Miller's chops front and center. It's a great song from start to finish and never falters. From there, Miller opts for a somewhat leaner, linear pop/rock number entitled "Stormy Eyes," which brings the likes of Big Wreck to mind. However, the musician falls into a trap with a stale, run-of-the-mill "Girls!," which adds little to the record....
