And while that may tell you something of the simple David and Goliath plot, it's difficult to convey just how charming this goofy comedy is. Suffice it to say that The Castle possesses a certain something -- a vibe, if you will -- that makes it utterly irresistible.

Amy Benic (Mira Sorvino) takes a break from her work as an architect at a spa in Pinecrest, a small town outside of New York. Virgil Anderson (Val Kilmer) is a masseur at the spa and gives Amy a massage. During the massage, Amy breaks down and cries and later falls asleep as Virgil leaves the room. When she woke up, she ran after Virgil to compliment the massage, only then realizing that Virgil is in fact blind. They hit it off nonetheless, with Virgil asking her out for a date. Virgil lives alone, though he is taken care of by his over-protective sister, Jennie (Kelly McGillis), who lives next door. He is also shown to have a keen interest in the New York Rangers NHL team, which he follows by listening to their games on TV or radio.

Chaque vacances scolaires, Danièle accompagne ses petits-enfants chez l'ex-mari de sa fille. Cette fois-ci, l'absence du père à l'arrivée lui permet de prolonger son séjour et de profiter d'eux plus longtemps. Mais sous la grand-mère modèle, dynamique et pédagogue, affleure une femme en proie à un malaise profond. Lasse de son entourage et de son quotidien, Danièle ne trouve plus de sens à sa vie qu'auprès de ses petits-enfants. Elle se révèle très vite incapable de se séparer d'eux et les petites vacances improvisées prennent irrésistiblement des allures d'enlèvement...

Olivier Peyon's debut feature is an elegant, if opaque psychological study. Bernadette Lafont plays Danielle, a retired teacher who has the regular job of ferrying the children of her divorced daughter to their father for the Easter holidays. Nettled by his casual failure to turn up to greet them at the railway station, Danielle imperiously takes the baffled kids off with her instead on an impromptu holiday - and embarks on a long, slow, almost invisible breakdown. This is a stylish performance from Lafont, and though I wondered if she wasn't withholding too much interior turmoil from the camera, it is very assured work from Peyon.

Evita traces the life of Eva Duarte (later Eva Duarte de Perón) (Madonna) from a child from the lower class to becoming the first lady and spiritual leader of Argentina. The film begins with the announcement of Eva's death and public funeral as the audience is introduced to the film's narrator, Che (Antonio Banderas), an everyman who tells the story of Eva's rise to power and subsequent illness and death, appearing in many different guises and serving as Eva's conscience and critic. The film flashes back to Eva's childhood, and she is seen as a young girl attempting to attend her father's funeral in the town of Junín with her mother and siblings. But her father's wife and other family (who are middle class) ban Eva's family from entering and carry Eva out screaming and claiming that he's her "papa" after she runs in on her own and pays her last respect.

Eva Duarte est ambitieuse et rêve de conquérir Buenos Aires, elle part avec son amant Agustín Magaldi vers la capitale et fini par sa détermination à obtenir une place de rêve au cinéma, elle rencontre le président Juan Perón lors d'une soirée et devient finalement la Première dame d'Argentine, Eva Perón est maintenant au cœur d'une vie opulente, le peuple finit par s'indigner de sa démesure tandis que l'aristocratie refuse son ascension. Eva, à 33 ans, est gravement malade et un soir elle s'effondre lors d'une cérémonie en son honneur..

As we meet the characters, heavy doses of rage, incest, jealousy and the battle for a profitable family business spill onto the screen. As harsh as their environment, feelings of warmth are soon extinguished by brutal gust of cold.
