Bootleg of a solo live performance at ASI Recording Studios, Broadway, Minneapolis, USA, recorded at an excellent quality from a KQRS-FM radio broadcast (Dec 16, 1975).

Documentary on the final years in the life of director Andrej Tarkovsky, who died in 1986, including his exile in Western Europe. The film shows the degree to which the themes of his films, NOSTALGHIA and the SACRIFICE almost literally came to encapsulate the director's own life and death.

Earlier this year (2004), an English journalist ventured to ask Tom Waits whether there was any chance of him playing in Britain. After all, it had been 17 years since he last performed live here, a period during which he has become perhaps the most improbable late-flowering commercial success in recent rock history. After 25 years as a vastly influential cult figure, Waits suddenly sold 1m copies of Mule Variations, a wildly abstruse album released in 1999, the year he turned 50.

Despite the time elapsed, and the sudden increase in record buyers' interest, Waits replied in the negative.

In early May 1977 Tom waits appeared in "The Old Grey Whistle Test" BBC TV show in London, UK. He performed Small Change and Tom Traubert's Blues beautifully as always.

Famous, and rightly so, as the only music programme of its generation to give airtime to obscure, unsigned and alternative bands/artists, "Old Grey Whistle Test" offered many now-famous faces their first 15 minutes of fame and introduced vast quantities of quality music to the record buying public.

Original Source PAL VHS Recording from a TV show transcripted to DVD. Sange efter Lukketid translates to Songs after closing time. The whole show (songs and words) is subtitled in Danish. Tom is standing in the bar with a Carlsberg Elephant Beer (a very strong lager), hence the alternative title, while raving on about this and that, along a jazzy tune from the band. He soon moves to the piano and starts the "real" concert.

I have mentioned Holly Cole as one of my favourite female jazz singers, who is quite underrated in my opinion. Here is one of her projects, Temptation, a tribute album to Tom Waits, which I would like to share both with avaxhome jazz cats and Tom Waits loyals.

Tonight In Person (1979) was a BBC television concert documentary filmed at the BBC Television Theatre, London, UK (aired July 26, 1979). Later on... Tom Waits (aka 'Later With Jools Holland', presented by Jools Holland; Producer: Serena Cross; Executive Producer: Mark Cooper. BBC, 1998 for UK-Arena) was a shortened 1998 re-broadcast version.

As the 21st of November is approaching, when the 3-CD 54-song (incl. 30 new recordings) Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers & Bastards album will be released, here is an appetizer for all Tom's fans: 114 tracks classified under Rare, Orphan, etc Songs folder in the free FTP server I have mentioned in the project page. Coincidentally, or not, the folder has vanished from the server...
