The Clash - The Essential Clash (American Version, 2003)
EAC Rip | FLAC, IMG+CUE, LOG | 2CD | 399 MB + 523 MB | Full HQ Scans 200 dpi | 31 MB | RAR | RS+HF
Genre: Punk/Rock | Label: Epic/Sony | Catalog Number: 2-89056 | Year: 2003

There have been other compilations by this band:"The Singles","The Story of the Clash Vol.1, and "Clash On Broadway". But there are a few factors that differentiate this from the others. For one thing, it's not an expensive box set with extra tracks the average listener does not need to have. Also, chart success wasn't what they were known for so there's more emphasis on tracks that weren't released as singles but are favorites to fans and music lovers alike. Most of the first disc is from their first album alone. Finally this double disc set puts their very best in chronological order ending with the track "This Is England" from their last studio album "Cut The Crap". This collection displays the pioneers of rebellious punk rock at their most vital. No rock fan should be without this one. Nothing here has been edited or remixed. by EDGAR S. OLIVARES, amazon.com

Pink Floyd - Is There Anybody Out There? : The Wall Live 1980-1981 [Limited Edition - Box Set]
EAC Rip | FLAC, IMG+CUE, LOG | 2CD | 305 MB + 315 MB | Scans 200 dpi | 39 MB | RAR | RS+HF
Pop/Rock | Label: EMI | Catalog Number: 5235622 | Year: 2000

Skillfully edited together from the handful of Wall shows Floyd performed between 1980 and 1981 (much of the recordings date from shows at Earl's Court in London), Is There Anybody out There? replicates The Wall live -- which, of course, was a replication of the record, only with spectacular visuals. There are two songs not on the studio album -- "What Shall We Do Now?," a tune pulled from the record at the 11th hour (early pressings still listed it on the sleeve), plus "The Last Few Bricks," which was an instrumental at the end of the first act that gave the crew time to finish building the wall -- but they add nothing to the overall piece. There are no revelations at all, actually, with the possible exception of the layered harmonies on "Outside the Wall," which makes this coda seem like a full-fledged song. Since the show was so rigidly structured, there was little opportunity for the band to stretch out and jam. All of this means that Is There Anybody out There? is The Wall by any other name, and that it isn't for anybody but Floyd fanatics. Will this disappoint the less-dedicated listener? Not necessarily, since anybody familiar with The Wall will likely enjoy it as it's playing. The question is, how often will you put the record on? After all, if you want to hear this music, you'll listen to the studio recording. That doesn't really diminish the worth of Is There Anybody out There?, but it hardly makes it necessary, either. -- Review by Stephen Thomas Erlewine

The Psychedelic Furs - Midnight To Midnight (1987)
EAC Rip | FLAC, IMG+CUE, LOG | 282 MB | Complete HQ Scans 200 dpi | 19 MB | WinRAR | File host: RS.com
Genre: Pop/Rock | Label: Columbia | Catalog Number: CK 40466 | UPC: 0 7464-40466-2 | Year: 1987

Midnight to Midnight continues the streamlining of The Psychedelic Furs. Unlike the previous Mirror Moves, Midnight to Midnight loses the essential character of The Furs' sound, as the production relies on a sleek, stylish pop production. Although the results don't have much to do with the group's early records, it's an entertaining record, filled with its share of pop thrills, including the single "Heartbreak Beat." --Review by Stephen Thomas Erlewine

The Psychedelic Furs - Here Came The Psychedelic Furs B-Sides & Lost Grooves (1994, Compilation)
EAC Rip | FLAC, IMG+CUE, LOG | 507 MB | Scans 200 dpi | 39 MB | WinRAR | FileSonic/RapidShare/FileServe
New Wave | Label: Columbia/Legacy | Country: US | Catalog Number: CK 57889 | Year: 1994

Review: As the title suggests, B-Sides & Lost Grooves is a collection of Psychedelic Furs obscurities culled from throughout their career. Predectiably, some of the tracks fall flat, but the great majority of the album is engaging, make the record a worthwhile complement to the group's first four albums.

If you are trying choose between this best of comp. and the "Greatest Hits" one, choose this one (I have both). The music/sound quality is more clear, emphasizing the vocals. It's a classic collection of songs. The cover is actually more attractive than the other one too.

Godley & Creme - Images (Compilation, 1993)
EAC Rip | FLAC, IMG+CUE, LOG | 400 MB | Complete HQ Scans 200 dpi | 28 MB | WinRAR | File host: RS.com
Genre: Pop/Rock | Label: Karussell | Catalog Number: 550 007-2

This is a great place to dip your toe in and see if Godley & Creme's music appeals to you. This, along with the 10cc Best of Compilation will provide you with the best glimpse into Godley & Creme's world. This compilation of their solo, post-10cc music, is a nice starting point for those unfamiliar with their work. It even includes the 1985 hit "Cry" which some people may recall from the MTV video. If original, tongue in cheek music is your cup of tea, this is a must. It's still a must for any rock collector.

Strontium 90 - Police Academy (the beginnings of The Police)
EAC Rip | FLAC, IMG+CUE, LOG | 298 MB | Complete HQ Scans 200 dpi | 37 MB | WinRAR | File host: RS.com
Genre: Pop/Rock | Label: Pangaea / Ark 21 | Catalog Number: 7243 8 33303 2 4 | Year: 1997

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Strontium 90: Police Academy is a music album, released by Mike Howlett in 1997, containing studio tracks and some live performances by Strontium 90, the band that played a major role in the forming of The Police. This album consists of live tracks recorded at Gong's reunion concert in Paris on May 28, 1977 as well as five studio tracks recorded in London just before the concert. Interestingly, this album also features Sting's demo version (strictly speaking not a Strontium 90 track) of Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic, which later became a massive hit for The Police, as a bonus.

Russ Ballard - Russ Ballar/The Fire Still Burns (1984/1985) [Features 2 LPs on 1 CD, 1996)
EAC Rip | FLAC, IMG+CUE, LOG | 507 MB | Complete HQ Scans 200 dpi | WinRAR
Genre: Pop/Rock | Label: Renaissance Records | Catalog Number: RMED00105

Russ Ballard's eponymous 1984 album and its sequel, The Fire Still Burns, were reissued on a single disc by Renaissance Records in 1996. Both albums are fairly spotty, but they have enough highlights to make this worthwhile for dedicated fans of Ballard or his former band Argent.

Roger Daltrey - Under A Raging Moon (1985)
EAC Rip | FLAC, IMG+CUE, LOG | 316 MB | Complete HQ Scans 200 dpi | 35 MB | WinRAR | File host: RS + HF
Genre: Rock | Label: Atlantic | Catalog Number: 81269-2 | Year: 1985

With songs unleashed from the soul of Roger Daltrey, Under a Raging Moon is a short voyage into the psyche of an aging rock star who has plenty to reveal. Daltrey's bitterness about growing older while gasping for every last breath of a youth gone by gives this album heart and a certain emotional dimension, coming to a head on the title track. His thunderous but passionate ode to his former friend and drummer Keith Moon is a fervent downpour of frustration that can be truly felt inside every line of the song. A spectacular drum solo from Mark Brzezicki is a modest tribute to the late Moon and adds depth indefinitely. A multitude of drummers appear on the album, musically paying their respects, including Cozy Powell, Roger Taylor, and Stewart Copeland. The guitar slashing "Let Me Down Easy," penned by Bryan Adams, is a perfectly formulated rock song intensified through Daltrey's energy. While this song and all of the others act as outlets for his pent up anger, each one is sung, and sometimes screamed, with genuine passion and heart. Even the slower songs, like "The Pride You Hide," display a moving amount of sincerity. Not every song is a treasure, but all contain a intangible character that only Daltrey can muster. --by Mike DeGagne, allmusic.com

Sting - Fields of Gold: The Best of Sting 1984-1994 [Argentina, Bonus Tracks]
EAC Rip | FLAC, IMG+CUE, LOG | 493 MB | Complete HQ Scans 200 dpi | WinRAR
Genre: Pop/Rock | Label: A&M/Polygram | Catalog Number: 540314-2 | File host: RS+HF

A good overview of Sting's radio hits and popular album tracks with only one major omission ("Mad About You"), Fields of Gold also offers three previously-unreleased songs. "This Cowboy Song" and "When We Dance" appear on no other album, while "We'll Be Together" is an alternate version. The import version of this collection offers a substantially different (and expanded) track listing, dropping "Fortress Around Your Heart," "Be Still My Beating Heart," and "Why Should I Cry for You"; and adding "Mad About You," "Nothing 'Bout Me," "Seven Days," "It's Probably Me," "Love is the Seventh Wave," and "Demolition Man." -- Review by Gavin McNett, amazon.com

Bob Dylan - MTV Unplugged (1995)
EAC Rip | FLAC, IMG+CUE, LOG | 500 MB | Complete Scans 200 dpi | WinRAR
Folk Rock | Label: Columbia | Catalog Number: 478374 2 | File host: RapidShare + FileServe

Unplugged albums are frequently corny, but this was an important artistic move for Dylan in 1995, when many fans had given up on his incomprehensible singing and lackluster concerts. With sympathetic backup musicians, including organist Brendan O'Brien and guitarist John Jackson, Dylan returns the coherence to his originals ("All Along the Watchtower," "The Times They Are A-Changin'," "Desolation Row," "Like a Rolling Stone") and rearranges them just enough to freshen their sound. The previously unreleased "Dignity" is one of Dylan's best songs this decade, and it fits nicely with the rickety versions of "John Brown" and the finale, "With God On Our Side." --Steve Knopper, Amazon.com.

Little Miss Dangerous, originally released in 1986, featured the hits Body Talk and Angry Young Man. A must for fans of the Nuge. Features updated liner notes. 10 tracks. 2001 digitally remastered reissue.

With the release of the Motorcity Madman Ted Nugent new live CD Full Bluntal Nugity, Spitfire has also unleashed his 4 long lost `80s Atlantic albums for the second time on CD as part of the Spitfire Master Series. Nugent/Penetrator/Little Miss Dangerous/If You Can't Lick `Em... Lick `Em have all been given the full bluntal digital remaster overhaul. The original Atlantic CD's sounded horrible. With these new remastered CD's you get the FULL BLUNTAL NUGITY and they have some very dangerous high points now. These CD's hit the bulls eye mark. Sadly these albums when first issued did not go further than reach the Nuge army of fans and get a few new comers due to low promotion from his then label Atlantic. All 4 CD's have been updated with new liner notes on the history of each album buy Nuge & Gary Graff. Do yourself a favor and pick them up. Play these CD's loud and you will rock your brains out. You will be surprised at what you have missed the first time these albums were around. --by Jay Siekierski
