In the middle of the 1990s the album Black Coffee was produced, an enigma in Kaas' career. In 1995 it was decided to produce a work specially for the American market containing exclusively English lyrics. Rumours state that the album was never officially sold. It occasionally becomes available in online auctions, however, but the authenticity of these records is in doubt.

The first album by French pop singer, Patricia Kaas, who updates the French chanson tradition with elements of pop, blues & jazz. Highlights include her first international hit from 1987, the title track 'Mademoiselle Chante Les Blues', 'Mon Mec A Moi' & 'D'allemagne.

This is an somewhat unusual jazz trio, consisting of guitar, drums and Hammond organ replacing the acoustic bass. Brad Shepik plays guitar like a blend of John Scofield and Bill Frisell in a mellow mood, accompanied by Gary Versace on the Hammond and Tom Rainey on drums. The songs are all original compositions, and feature a set of mid tempo numbers, interspersed with ballads and slow waltzes.

The passion for playing on glass goblets filled with varying amounts of water preceded the appearance of the of the instrument with such name. The performer produced a sound rubbing the rim of the glass with fingers.
