Yann Tiersen - Dust Lane (2010)
EAC Rip | APE (image+.cue+log) - 302 MB | Covers includes
Genre: Neo-Classical, Post-Rock, Indie | RAR 3% Rec. | Label: Mute (CDSTUMM324)

French composer/multi-instrumentalist Tiersen is a classically trained musician who came of age in the post-punk era, and both of those musical worlds inform his work. Despite many years of high-profile solo albums, soundtracks, and collaborations with everyone from Jane Birkin to the Divine Comedy, Dust Lane is his first album for a U.S. label. It's a rich, moody, multi-layered work that finds Tiersen showing off his instrumental prowess and playing a wide array of instruments from strings to synthesizers on his haunting classical/rock compositions.

Stomu Yamashta - Raindog (1975) [Reissue 2008]
EAC Rip | WavPack (image+.cue+log) - 340 MB | MP3 CBR 320 kbps (LAME 3.93) - 169 MB | Covers includes
Genre: Jazz Fusion | RAR 3% Rec. | Label: Esoteric Recordings (ECLEC 2085)

Perhaps most widely known for his contributions to the atmospheric score of Nicolas Roeg's The Man Who Fell To Earth, Japanese composer/percussionist Stomu Yasmashta made a number of albums in the 1970s that trounced the boundaries of jazz fusion, new age music, and old fashioned experimentation. This 2008 release, mastered directly from the original recordings, is the first CD edition of Yamashta's '75 opus, Raindog, a compelling work that includes one track later used in Earth. Fans of Brian Eno will find a kindred (but wholly original) spirit here.

Big Sleep - Bluebell Wood (1971) [Reissue 2007]
EAC Rip | FLAC (image+.cue+log) - 293 MB | MP3 CBR 320 kbps (LAME 3.93) - 119 MB | Covers includes
Genre: Progressive Rock | RAR 3% Rec. | Label: Esoteric Recordings (ECLEC2008)

Big Sleep were a Welsh band whose inflence was far beyond their sole album offering released in 1971. The band members (formerly with Eyes Of Blue) would all soon head for greater things in bands such as Gentle Giant, Man and Wild Turkey (formed by ex-Jethro Tull bassist Glenn Cornick) and Rick Wakman's band. An album that features many fine songs and styles, "Bluebell Wood", (originally released on the highly collectable Pagusus label), has been sought after by collectors for many years thanks to its influence and place in the history of British progressive rock and in the annals of Welsh rock. This release is sure to appeal to followers of Man and Gentle Giant in particular.

Karunesh - Zen Breakfast (2001)
EAC Rip | WavPack (image+.cue+log) - 336 MB | MP3 CBR 320 kbps (LAME 3.93) - 142 MB | Covers includes
Genre: New Age, Relaxation | RAR 3% Rec. | Label: Real Music (RM4150)

Zen Breakfast is truly classic "New Age" music, with floating melodies, shimmering flutes, clear bells, gentle guitar and piano. Many of the tracks remind a bit of early Kitaro, but this is definitely not an imitation of that artist or any other. While there are many Eastern influences, there are also many from the West, joining to make a soothing, mystical blend. The music is quiet and consistent enough in mood and tempo to make a very pleasant backdrop for other activities. It will also hold up well for meditation or meditative listening.

Weird - A Different Kind Of Normal (1999)
EAC Rip | FLAC (image+.cue+log) - 468 MB | MP3 CBR 320 kbps (LAME 3.93) - 213 MB | Covers includes
Genre: Electronic, Berlin School | RAR 3% Rec. | Label: Neu Harmony (NH011)

The participants in this project are Jens Peschke and Andy Bloyce from Kubusschnitt. The first thing you hear on this album is a rumbling sequence which leaves you in no doubt that the territory to be explored is decidedly retro. There are Tangerine Dream references but they are mixed in equal part with Klaus Schulze and Ashra influences. The opening track title 'Klaus to the Edge' (!) makes the Schulze reference even more obvious. The guitar when used is very subtle giving colour rather than dominating as a lead instrument. The sequence provides the backbone but the accompanying atmospherics and effects are just as effective.

Gary Wright - The Dream Weaver (1975) [AFZ 24 KT + Gold CD, 2011]
EAC Rip | WavPack (image+.cue+log) - 255 MB | MP3 CBR 320 kbps (LAME 3.93) - 113 MB | Covers includes
Genre: Rock | RAR 3% Rec. | Label: Audio Fidelity (AFZ 132), 2011

No one expected the success of Dream Weaver when it was released, but it sailed to the top of the charts, and with good reason. Backed with only drums and a wide assortment of keyboards, Gary Wright crafted instantly recognizable tunes such as the title cut and "Love Is Alive," which caught on and remain staples of classic rock stations around the U.S. All very revolutionary and new at the time, Dream Weaver hasn't lost any of its magic over time.

Wishbone Ash - First Light (1970) [Reissue 2007]
EAC Rip | FLAC (image+.cue+log) - 264 MB | MP3 CBR 320 kbps (LAME 3.93) - 100 MB | Covers includes
Genre: Progressive Rock | RAR 3% Rec. | Label: Talking Elephant Records (TECD108)

This collection of early recordings by the early-1970s British prog-rock legends Wishbone Ash contains original versions of "Lady Whiskey," "Blind Eye," and the extended opus "Handy." As evidenced here, in its earliest incarnation the band's twin-guitar attack combined the approach of such West Coast rockers as the Grateful Dead with the enthusiasm of the British blues boom, in addition to liberal doses of psychedelia. An added bonus is a vocal version of the instrumental "Alone," from the band's second album, Pilgrimage. First Light is a grand and fortunate find for Wishbone Ash fans.

Andreas Ludwig - Callings of the Night (1999)
EAC Rip | FLAC (image+.cue+log) - 342 MB | MP3 CBR 320 kbps (LAME 3.93) - 157 MB | Covers includes
Genre: New Age | RAR 3% Rec. | Label: Think Progressive (TPCD 1.907.056)

Adept and international specialist of bansoori (a bamboo flute among the Indians of North), Andreas Ludwig attempts to produce an ethnic music slightly tinged with electronic music and progressives. Our man in particular is helped by drummer Harald Grosskopf and guitarist-keyboardist Axel Manrico Heilhecker, the duo is Sunya Beat in full force! Recorded between 1993 and 1998, parts of "Callings Of The Night" looks like an imaginary film, which leads the listener to the depths of the mysteries of the orient. Very relaxed and a kind of New Age.

Helios - Unleft (2010)
EAC Rip | APE (image+.cue+log) - 262 MB | Covers includes
Genre: Ambient, Downtempo | RAR 3% Rec. | Label: Unseen Records (Unseen001)

On Unleft, Keith Kenniff collects previously unreleased Helios material recorded between 2000 and 2009, sequencing the resultant tracks as a self-contained album. The resultant fifty minutes plays out as a wonderfully varied sequence that focusses on melodically resonant electronic music. You'll hear some of the compositional techniques Kenniff has become known for at work, cutting a tuneful, glitched-up swathe through opener 'Convivium', while the crunchily filtered, slow-core beats of 'Friedel' and 'Distance' channel a hazy, opiated quality.

Pangea - Invasori (1976) [Reissue 2007]
EAC Rip | FLAC (image+.cue+log) - 257 MB | MP3 CBR 320 kbps (LAME 3.93) - 125 MB | Covers includes
Genre: Progressive Rock | RAR 3% Rec. | Label: BTF (AMS 112 CD)

The reissue one of the most legendary italian prog albums ever! "Invasori" was originally released only in a few promo copies for the Philips label back in 1976 (and that LP is now a very expensive collectors' item), so that many italian prog fans didn't even know that this title was ever existing. "Invasori" is a beautiful and haunting progressive concept album divided in two suites in the classic italian style, with italian vocals, various moods and an overall spacey atmosphere with hints of Pink Floyd. This is an excellent and rare find!

The Web - Theraphosa Blondi (1970) [Reissue 2008]
EAC Rip | FLAC (image+.cue+log) - 290 MB | MP3 CBR 320 kbps (LAME 3.93) - 118 MB | Covers includes
Genre: Progressive Rock, Jazz-Rock | RAR 3% Rec. | Label: Esoteric Recordings (ECLEC2055)

The Web are perhaps best known for their Progressive rock classic "I Spider" an album of innovation that continues to draw comparisons with the work of Van Der Graaf Generator at that time. The Web began life as a jazz and soul influenced outfit, fronted by singer John L. Watson, enjoying Top Ten hit singles throughout Europe. By the time of Theraphosa Blondi the band underwent a metamorphosis, with their music taking on more Jazz and Progressive influences, resulting in an excellent album that is rightly seen as a precursor to both the album "I Spider" and the bands evolution into the group Samurai.
