'The original
Brides of Funkenstein were Lynn Mabry and Dawn Silva, two vocalists who were background singers for Sly and the Family Stone in the mid-70s. George Clinton first met them while Sly was opening for Parliament / Funkadelic and offered them to join the P.Funk camp in 1977.
The year later,
the Brides debut album "Funk or Walk" was released. With the help of their hit single "Disco to Go", the album went gold. They began touring with P-Funk for the "One Nation Under a Groove" tour, but Lynn left the group in 1979, due to financial disputes and her becoming pregnant.'
