The Rolling Stones - Nasty Music (2CD) (1972-1973) (2004)
MP3 320 Kbps | 201.7 Mb
Rock and roll | 2CD
| “ | It's hard to overestimate the importance of the Rolling Stones in rock & roll history. The group, which formed in London in 1962, distilled so much of the music that had come before it and has exerted a decisive influence on so much that has come after. Only a handful of musicians in any genre achieve that stature, and the Stones stand proudly among them. | ” |

| “ | Texas are a rock band from Bearsden, Glasgow, Scotland. They were founded by Johnny McElhone (formerly of the bands Altered Images and Hipsway) in 1986 and had their performing debut in March 1988 at Scotland's University of Dundee. They took their name from the 1984 Wim Wenders movie Paris, Texas. The band released their debut album Southside in 1989, along with the debut single "I Don't Want a Lover" which was a worldwide success, charting at #8 on the UK Singles Charts and other high charting positions in Europe. | ” |

Cowboy Junkies - Lay It Down (1996)
MP3 320 Kbps | 117.6 Mb
Alt Country, Country Blues, Rock | Tracks:13
| “ | Country rock band Cowboy Junkies were formed in Toronto, Canada by siblings Margo (vocals), Michael (guitar, songwriter) and Peter (drums) Timmins and lifelong friend Alan Anton (bass) in 1985. It is widely believed that the band have taken their name from Townes Van Zandt's song "Cowboy Junkies Lament" but the track was actually written in 1989 and seems to have been written for and inspired by the Cowboy Junkies. | ” |

| “ | Singing and songwriting duo Daryl Hall and John Oates were one of America's most popular acts in the early 80s. Their first breaks came in 1976, when "Sara Smile" and "She's Gone" were Top 10 hits, before "Rich Girl" became Hall & Oates' first Hot 100 chart-topper the following year. However, their next seven singles all flopped, so Hall & Oates decided to ditch their producers and do it themselves instead. Slightly updating their soul-inflected soft rock sound with a new-wave edge, "Kiss on my List" topped the Hot 100 in 1980 and marked the beginning of a prolific period for the group. | ” |

Peter Kater - Ambrosia (Healing Series, Vol.3) (2008)
MP3 320 kbps | Label: Point of Light Records | 110.09 MB
New Age | 6 tracks | 1CD
| “ | "Ambrosia" is Volume 3 in Peter Kater's "Healing Series." The CD cover says that this is "Music for Purification, Inspiration, Exaltation, and Self Expression;" I might add "relaxation and pure listening enjoyment." I would also caution the listener that what it is NOT is music to wake up to - it fails miserably in that regard as I slept through the whole CD both times I had it in my wake-up alarm. I expect that this news will delight Kater and crew rather than offending them, considering the nature of the music. The quartet of musicians is Peter Kater in his usual place on the piano bench, Jaques Morelenbaum on cello, Richard Hardy on bamboo flute and zaphoon, and Pete Korpela on "ambient percussion." The combination of flute, piano, and cello is a hauntingly beautiful one that soothes and refreshes, and the music is slow, graceful, and incredibly moving. Peter Kater is one of the most prolific composers on the planet, and it never ceases to amaze me how consistently high the quality of his music is - he never disappoints. The six tracks on "Ambrosia" contain elements of improvisation. | ” |

Jose James - Blackmagic (2010)
EAC Rip | FLAC (tracks+.cue) | 01:07:15 min | No Covers | Label: Indie Europe/Zoom | 420 MB
Soul Jazz, Vocal Jazz | Tracks:14
| “ | I became a huge fan of Jose James after listening to his 2008 debut, The Dreamer. James first struck my interest after I first read an article about him in Downbeat magazine. He seemed like the type of young modern jazz artist I had been waiting to hear: a young versatile, open-minded cat who respected the legends that came before him while bringing a fresh b-boy flair. After listening to The Dreamer, I saw that I was right in my pre-assessment of James. | ” |
