Robert M. Zimmerman, Ann W. Lehman, «Boards That Love Fundraising:A How-to Guide for Your Board»
Jossey-Bass | ISBN:0787968129 | February 17, 2004 | PDF | 2,73 Mb | 128 Pages

This book is a must for board members and anyone who works with boards. This book lays out a number of alternatives and makes all seem doable. I especially appreciated the 'investing in social enterprises' concept of giving versus the more typical begging on bended knee for what are essential critical services to the community. The exercises are clearly explained and the language is straightforward and easy to follow. The underlying concepts go far to removing the mystery and fear of asking for money. The board recruitment grid, the fundraising planning section, working with consultants and the costs and evaluation sections appeal to my structured way of thinking.

Richard Brandt, «Capital Instincts: Life as an Entrepreneur, Financier, and Athlete»
Wiley | ISBN 0471214175 | 2003 Year | PDF | 1,03 Mb | 304 Pages

Powerful, controversial and determined, Thomas Weisel is known for his unwavering focus on winning the race, whether he is competing in a national cycling championship, sponsoring Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong or negotiating with business competitors. For twenty-seven years he ran one of the major investment banks on the West Coast, bringing public companies such as Applied Materials, Siebel Systems and Yahoo! and was instrumental in establishing San Francisco as an alternative financial center to Wall Street. In 1997 he sold his company to NationsBank, which later merged with Bank of America. Unhappy with his treatment after the merger, Weisel trumped Bank of America by negotiating a separation package that included $500 million in stock options and the ability to hire away crucial Bank of America management. Within two years, the investment bank he started, Thomas Weisel Partners, reached half a billion dollars in revenues and negotiated high-profile deals such as Yahoo!'s merger with Geocities. Power Investor weaves Weisel's approach to success, his competitive nature and love of cycling into a fascinating inside account of the cutthroat world of investment banking.

Organizational Knowledge and Technology
Edward Elgar Publishing | 2004-08-04 | ISBN: 184376282X | 272 pages | PDF | 1 MB

This book attempts to make sense of a new area of integrated study, namely information systems and information technology (IS/IT) and the organization. It also aims to bring this mix into the broader theme of complexity as applied to organization and management and to draw useful conclusions about how to organize and how to manage IS/IT in the knowledge era. The author argues in favor of a more action-oriented - as opposed to planning dominated - approach to information systems management.

The New Reality of Wall Street : An Investor's Survival Guide to Triple Waterfalls and Other Stock Market Perils
McGraw-Hill; 1 edition | ISBN: 0071417532 | 288 pages | May 19, 2003 | PDF | 1 Mb

That the "bubble burst" in 2000 is really a misnomer. The fall of the markets actually marked a seldom-seen--but always dangerous--triple waterfall. In The New Reality of Wall Street, Donald Coxe--a huge name in institutional investment circles--provides shaky investors with the reassuring knowledge and guidance they need to recoup recent investment losses, and weather a financial storm that is still far from over.
While Coxe warns that the third leg of the triple waterfall is still alive, he shows there are profits to be made. The New Reality of Wall Street tells investors where to look--and what to look for--to invest profitably despite the prevailing doom and gloom as it discusses:
* How to understand and profit from the triple waterfall phenomenon
* What the fall of the dollar means to future investors
* Which direction inflation should turn, and why
