Little Buster & The Soul Brothers - Right On Time
Blues/Soul | MP3 192 Kbps | 65 MB | 1995

Anyone lucky enough to stumble across Little Buster's 1995 debut album for Bullseye Blues might well have been asking themselves, "Where's this guy been all this time?" The answer: for the last three decades or so, the blind guitarist has been serving up his soulful brand of blues around his adopted home of Long Island, NY, with his band, the Soul Brothers.
Mixing blues and soul traditions with melismatic passion, Buster was responsible for one of 1995's best albums — debut or otherwise.

Quincy Jones - Explores The Music Of Henry Mancini
Jazz | MP3 VBR V2 ~197 Kbps | 53 MB | 2009

As modern big-band leaders go, Quincy Jones in the '60s would be first choice for many composers who wrote for a television series or the cinema. Though not the original themes, Jones was quite able to produce a full album featuring Henry Mancini's famous songs from movies and the small screen. This collection of the familiar and obscure Mancini done in 1964, preceded famed epic scores written by Jones from films The Pawnbroker and The Deadly Affair. It comprises several well-known hit tunes and a smattering of cuts not easily identifiable as the hummable and memorable Mancini classics.

Luther Allison - Songs From The Road
Blues | MP3 VBR V2 ~199 Kbps | 103 MB | 2009

"Songs From The Road" documented one of the magic moments of the blues-legend Luther Allison, who dies in 1997. Recorded in Montreal by the Canadian Television at 4th July 1997, only 4 days before he had to cancel his tour, and to come back on stage never again. In a set about nearly 90 minutes (which is documented on CD in nearly the whole length, and the TV-Edition about 56min. on DVD) Luther burns down a real blues-firework for his fans. As he has known, that this concert would be the last documented one.

Steve Hackett - Out Of The Tunnel's Mouth
Progressive Rock | MP3 320 kbps | 105 MB | 2009

One of the great things about being a fan of Genesis is that each member or former member of the band has a deep solo career to explore. For whatever mood you feel, there is new music to explore. Steve Hackett's latest work, 'Out of the Tunnel's Mouth' on his own Wolfworks label is the newest addition to this ever expanding discography. This album runs through a full gamut of moods, with a lot of darkness and reflections, but yet to these ears the album feels hopeful at its conclusion.

"Lil' Buck" Sinegal - The Buck Starts Here
Blues | MP3 VBR V2 ~182 Kbps | 79 MB | 1999

In spite of Sinegal's zydeco credentials, this is a fairly straight blues album with faint or nonexistent traces of zydeco. Even the instrumental "Blues into Zydeco" is more a hard-charging roadhouse number than something listeners would be likely to identify as a zydeco cut. Sinegal co-wrote much of the material with Allen Toussaint, and it has an easygoing feel that often incorporates rolling New Orleans funk and R&B rhythms, most obviously on Toussaint's "Line Dancer." Sinegal has a competent if undistinguished voice, plays well in a contemporary electric style that owes something to B.B. King, and throws in some instrumentals along the way.

Zakiya Hooker - Keeping It Real
Blues | MP3 VBR V0 ~252 Kbps | 113 MB | 2009

When John Lee Hooker passed away in 2001 at the age of 83, obituaries noted that the blues giant was survived by no less than eight children. At least two of them, Zakiya Hooker (formerly Vera Lee Hooker) and John Lee Hooker, Jr., have followed in their dad's footsteps by becoming blues singers. But neither John Lee Hooker, Jr. nor Zakiya have tried to emulate him stylistically, and the swampy Mississippi-meets-Detroit approach he was known for is rarely heard on Keeping It Real (which, for the most part, has a decidedly urban, more Chicago-influenced flavor). Subtlety and understatement prevail on this enjoyable 2009 release; Zakiya isn't an aggressive belter of the Etta James/Koko Taylor variety, but that doesn't mean that she isn't expressive.

Maria Muldaur - 30 Years Of Maria Muldaur: I'm A Woman
Blues | MP3 320 kbps | 189 MB | 2004
Covers included

Taking a cursory glance at the 19 selections on 30 Years of Maria Muldaur does little to disavow that rep. There are lively versions of "It Ain't the Meat (It's the Motion)," "Don't You Make Me High (Don't You Feel My Leg)," and "Me and My Chauffeur Blues." It would be a shame, though, if listeners allowed all of this sex appeal to obscure what a fine singer Muldaur is, or to shadow how well she handles the blues and old jazz. There's a lovely version of "Rockin' Chair," on which she's backed by saxophonist Benny Carter, and a nice, bluesy take on "It Feels Like Rain." While 30 Years leans toward Muldaur's work from the early '70s onward, all of her fans will enjoy a retrospective of a long, productive career.

Shirley Bassey - The Performance
Vocal/Jazz | MP3 192 kbps | 58 MB | 2009

Dame Shirley Bassey is looking amazing and her voice is as good as ever. I have just been to see the BBC Electric Prom at the Roundhouse in Camden, London. Her performance at age 72 for an hour and a half was beautiful, emotional and quite extraordinary. I wanted to cry I was so happy to be standing in the intimate atmosphere with people around me whooping, squealing and exclaiming. The atmosphere was 'electric' and full of love and admiration of our Dame. The new songs, written by current artists, sounded stunning and were delivered with emotion and subtlety in a softer tone and the expected DSB style . Quite captivating and entrancing. I was blown away, as always. DSB is an incredible lady that I want to hear much more of. Thankfully age has not diminished her voice or performance skills. She is truly astounding and I defy anyone to not be impressed by her performance. There is definately much more to be had from the delicious Dame. She never fails to impress.
