Stephen Fry begins a journey to find some of the most endangered – and often downright dotty – animals on the planet as he reminds viewers that this may be the last chance to see some of them in the wild. Following in the footsteps of his friend, the late Douglas Adams, whose book of the same name is still inspiring conservationists 20 years after it was first published, Stephen teams up with Douglas's co-conspirator, zoologist Mark Carwardine, to see how the species they found first time around have fared. Heading the list is the Amazonian manatee, which could once be found in great herds but is now officially "vulnerable to extinction" with just a few thousand remaining – spread across a territory twice the size of Australia.

He evaded capture and has never answered for his crimes - but now 60years on and with Heim well into his 90s, fresh evidence has emerged suggesting that he might still be alive.
