Curious cross between Deliverance (which came out nine years earlier) and Predator (which came out a lot later) has National Guardsmen on a boring weekend exercise in a Louisiana bayou, only to find themselves under attack from local redneck Cajuns, all due to the troop's own stupidity. The dysfunctional group dynamic is far more compelling than the traps the group will face en route to death or freedom (and there's a lot of the former), with a solid cast of notable faces that eventually add as many corpses to the body count as their attackers. Very intriguing film.

Boss Drum, The Shamen's 4th album, is a masterpiece of electronic beats and synths. It has the Euro-hits "Boss Drum", "L.S.I.", "Ebeneezer Goode" and "Phorever People." It's a step above 1991's En-Tact in that Boss Drum has less repetitiveness and more hook.

Modern Classics is a democratic collection, choosing three tracks from Paul Weller, four tracks from each of the rest, and adding one new single, "Brand New Start", for good measure. There's not a loser in the lot, but the remarkable thing to note here is the coherence of this collection: Weller's mature rock and love of classic soul has resulted in a sound that's remained remarkably consistent over the course of the 1990s.

Trouser Jazz is a joyous romp through funk, jazz, soul and hip-hop.Rather it is fun, original and diverse, this last being why it particularly appeals to me as my tastes are very eclectic.This album laughs at musical conventions whilst still sounding effortlessly integral.
