The best and most popular French rapper, MC Solaar found success in America among fans of acid jazz and jazz-rap (if not the larger hip-hop community) after guesting on Guru's acclaimed Jazzmatazz project. French rapper MC Solaar spends his self-titled album showcasing exactly why he was instantly championed by the hip-hop community as an international talent. From the jazzy, trip-hop-like beats courtesy of producers Zdar, Boom Bass, and Evil D to Solaar's lucid flow, this is quality hip-hop.

Finding a perfectly hallowed ground between Pink Floyd, Mad Professor and classic soul, Massive Attack have always had the extra burden of being true trailblazers. In their wake has come everything from the Mo’Wax record label to the "Bristol Invasion" of the mid-’90s (Portishead, Tricky). Their last album, the dark and subversive Mezzanine, however, was a black celebration, as the band — Daddy G, Mushroom and 3-D — fractured beyond repair making it. That brings us to 100th Window, with 3-D the last man standing. What he comes up with is epic, elaborate and well worthy of the sacred Massive Attack moniker.

Lee Perry has been developing the sound of reggae since the 1960s, and though others have achieved similar results, no one has created music with the same zest and eccentricity. Artists like Max Romeo, Junior Murvin, Dr. Alimintado and Bob Marley have made some of their finest work thriving under Perry's production in the famed Black Ark studios.

Like the Velvet Underground, their most obvious influence, the chart success of the Jesus and Mary Chain was virtually nonexistent, but their artistic impact was incalculable; quite simply, the British group made the world safe for white noise, orchestrating a sound dense in squalling feedback which served as an inspiration to everyone from My Bloody Valentine to Dinosaur Jr. This is a CD with B-sides and rarities. Enjoy!

Trombone master Don Drummond was among the seminal figures behind the evolution of ska — a founding member of the legendary Skatalites, he was the genre's most prolific composer, with well over 300 songs to his name before his brief career ended in tragedy. Even prior to the birth of ska, Drummond was already regarded as something of a Jamaican legend for his jazz prowess; as a teacher at West Kingston's Alpha Boys School, he also mentored up-and-comers including Tommy McCook, Rico Rodriguez, Vernon Muller, Joe Harriott and Vincent Gordon.

Recorded between 1962 & 1981. The 1995 version of Anthology was remastered and slightly retooled from the 1986 reissue, which was in turn updated from the original triple-LP set Motown released in 1974. That first Anthology [1974] featured nothing from Let's Get It On or afterward; the newest Anthology adds even more from that era while subtracting a bit from Gaye's earlier years, including a few of his numerous duets. Even so, it still stands as a near-definitive document.

Led by Pauly Fuemana, a Polynesian native, OMC is a New Zealand-based urban soul group that relies heavily on Polynesian and worldbeat rhythms. The deceptively upbeat songs - whose titles were inspired by a ubiquitous catchphrase - revolved around peculiar encounters with policemen and circus performers. But behind the catchy melody lurked a darker story, hinting at Fuemana's upbringing in south Auckland. On January 31, 2010, Pauly Fuemana, aged 40, died after a short illness.

The sequel to The Visitors reunites us with those lovable ruffians from the French Medieval ages who - through magic - are transported into the present, with often drastic consequences. Godefroy de Montmirail travels to today to recover the missing family jewels and a sacred relic, guarantor of his wife-to-be's fertility. The confrontation between Godefroy's repellent servant Jack the Crack and his descendent, the effete Jacquart, present-day owner of the chateau, further complicates the matter.

Scott is Ben McGewen, a small-time who's having to pay off his murdered brother's debt to gang boss Gregory (Lou Diamond Philips wearing a shockingly white wig). All he has to do is steal a rare Chinese sculpture for him. Unfortunately the sculpture is locked away in a high-security bank vault. Good thing that Ben has an elaborate plan which involves the putting on a club night in the warehouse next door and a crew of accomplices capable of pulling it off. So long as everything goes to plan of course. Unfortunately, everything that can go wrong does.
