Ben Kweller - Ben Kweller (2006)
mp3 | 320kbps | Pop-Rock, Indie Rock | RS links | 92.3Mb

On his third, self-titled effort, Ben Kweller takes the notion of "solo album" to the extreme, playing all of the instruments himself. For many artists, this would result in an album that's quiet and insular. However, Ben Kweller is nearly as immediate and direct as Sha Sha and On My Way were, but with a little more focus. Kweller's eternally boyish voice is perfectly suited to his tales of young love, hanging out and heartache, whether he frames them in giddy, impatient pop like "Run," earnest tone-poems like "Thirteen," or a sound somewhere between the two, as on the single "Summer Dress." To his credit, though, Kweller sounds a little more mature on several songs, particularly "Penny on the Train Track" and "Red Eye," which asks the surprisingly direct question, "How long will it take before I have your heart to break?" Equally divided between thoughtful ballads such as "Until I Die" and half good-natured, chugging power pop like "Gotta Move" and "Magic" -- with the occasional feisty rocker like "This Is War" thrown in for good measure -- Ben Kweller treads the same path as Kweller's other work, but fortunately, it still sounds genuine, not formulaic.

CHRIS REA - Dancing With Strangers (1987)
1987 | Pop-Rock | APE + CUE | RS Links | 325Mb | Covers

This is Chris Rea's finest hour of music. I never get tired of listening to this album. It has such diversity of musical influences: the moody blues rap of Joys of Christmas, the playful I Can't Dance to That, the pure Rea blues Curse of the Traveller, the swing sound of Let's Dance, the Caribbean essence of Que Sera and the mournful Irish folk of Josie's Tune.

CHRIS REA - Water Sign
1983 | Pop-Rock | APE + CUE | RS Links | 230Mb

This album got to be one of the best pop (or whatever you call it) albums of the eighties. It`s packed with great stuff from the upbeat "I can hear your heartbeat" through the mesmerizing and carefree "hey you" to the melancholy "candles". It's standard Chris Rea - melodic, reflective, and atmospheric, and none the worse for that.

Satnley Jordan - Standards, Vol. 1 ((1966)
Instrumental Jazz Pop | APE-CUE | 167MB

Standards, mostly ballads & some blues, with an emphasis on 60s & 70s.

The mood is romantic. Stanley plays expressively, with sensitive dynamics and subtle nuances of phrasing. He creates an intimate sound—the guitar is recorded dry—which sounds like he's playing right next to you.

Andy Irvine, Davy Spillane - EASTWIND (1996)
MP3 | 192 Kbps | Ethno Jazz, World music | 55,7 Mb | November 14, 1996

I love all these regional styles of music and singing *separately* ... therefore I had to have this CD ... where they are combined to experience this new phenomenon.

The experiment is not definable but it works! It works superbly ... due to the depth and range of musicians and vocalists who have all achieved notice on the world music stage.

Given the rise in status of Celtic music in the past 10 or more years, and since the Bulgarian Female Choirs/Choruses have done world tours – the 5/16, 7/16, 9/16, and 11/16 rhythms have captivated many listeners wherever they have performed.

This mix of music is fresh and exciting, very much alive and dynamic.
Features Vocals of Marta Sebestyn (Of Musikas Fame) and Musicians that Feature in the 'Riverdance' Show.

Smak - CRNA DAMA (1977)

| mp3 | 192kbps | 47.6Mb | 35:29 | Yu Ethno Rock | 1977 |

SMAK is one of the most interesting ex-Yugo groups. "Crna dama" (Black Lady) is one of their best efforts.

The musicianship on this album is high but not all tracks are strictly prog. It's an interesting mix: a hit song ("Crna dama"), nice blues rock ballads ("Plava Pesma", "Stvar ljubavi"), a funky track ("Alo"), prog instrumentals ("Domaci zadatak", "Tegoba") and an energetic ethno rock song ("Daire").

The speciality of their style are funky fusion and occasional oriental elements full of temperament and soul.

Line-up
- Radomir Mihajlovic Tocak / guitars
- Slobodan Stojanovic / drums
- Zoran Milanovic / bass
- Boris Arandjelovic / vocals
- Miki Petkovski / keyboards
