This video includes live performance of Aziza with two great musicians: Ralf Cetto on the Bass and Simon Zimbardo on the Drums, this is the first time I personally see songs like 'Always' and 'Dance of Fire' performed together with a Rhythm Section, and it's just great! Among the songs in the concert there are parts of interviews and documentaries with Aziza in which she talks about her life, her father,Baku and Music...these parts are in French.

SUSSITA are an Israeli progressive folk band whose music is intended to be nostalgic and whimsical. The band's name is in reference to a short-lived Israeli-manufactured automobile by the same name, and pays tribute to an earlier and simpler time in Israeli society.

That a Western violinist should choose to pair with the illustrious Ravi Shankar is not in itself surprising. The violin was fully absorbed (and tuned much lower) by the Indian classical music establishment by the 19th century, and more recently has produced performers such as Dr. L. Subramaniam, Lalgudi Jayaraman, and the highly experimental L. Shankar. However, aside from being a highly accomplished set of recordings, the WEST MEETS EAST series--three Menuhin-Shankar collaborations--elevated world music to new heights.

Panic Ensemble, more a collective than a band from Israel, offer up a debut album of intricate compositions. Heavy on strings and rich in vocal harmonies, the group takes complicated pieces of music and strips them of any pomp in favor of grounded emotion. Heavy, big songs like “Underground” stretch out and grow to symphonic heights. “Obsession” and other upbeat numbers bring a playful bounce to the album, keeping it from getting weighted down. And with songs like “Spring from Your Heart”, the band channels the sweet jazz of Astrud Gilberto, giving us a love song that is a poppy as it is airtight in its composition. These elements come together to make an album with surprising variety and breadth. It is easy for a group this good at compositions based in traditional instruments to let their music become precious and impenetrable. Not so with Panic Ensemble. Emotion is given as much, if not more weight than precise musicianship. And in doing so, they’ve made one of the best art-rock-cabaret—that’s what they call it—records you haven’t heard this year.

Caco is a proud, handsome man, head of a family, and very powerful in the local community. Yet he has been torn to pieces by the death of his beloved daughter. He constantly visits her grave, weeps silently at her photo and has transferred all his wildly protective love and attention onto his mentally challenged nephew, Diego. It seems that Diego's father, Caco's brother, is in hiding after having killed a man from the Caravaca family, who are equally powerful in the community. They are looking for vengeance and have come to Caco for justice. When he refuses to betray his brother, the Caravacas grow impatient. When they realize they are getting nowhere, they threaten to kill Diego. Despite his fierce pride, Caco eventually realizes that the cycle of killing and revenge must be broken. But how can he achieve this and protect everyone he loves?

first album by this great & unusuall israeli trio - drums, guitar & trumpet (!) playing a groovy amalgam of funk, blues, rockabilly & even a bit of psych to good affect. An amazing live band as well. Recommended!

Get ready for the Kutiman experience. Funk and afro beat are only two shades of Kuti's kaleidoscopic sound. From West Indian grooves and easy listening to rock and soul and even pop there are no barriers. "Music Is Ruling My World", sums it up best ("Half disco, half afro beat and mostly perfect for summer jamming purposes." was "The Fader's verdict on the single). And while Kutiman recorded the bulk of the album all by himself, playing keys, drums, guitar, percussions and bass he also showcases many of his friends and favorite musicians from the scene in Tel Aviv.
