Keren Ann was one of my big discoveries of 2008. She has a soft melancholic voice which I find enchanting, truly beautiful to listen to. My favourite of her albums are Not Going Anywhere and La Disparition both of which I am posting today.

It never occured to me to listen to Dusty Springfield before I heard 'Son Of A Preacher Man' while watching Pulp Fiction at the cinema. This is an awesome track I thought, making a mental note to pay attention to the song credits during the end credits. So I have Quentin Tarantino to thank for intruducing me to the great soul singer Dusty Springfield.

This double CD, comprising of 45 tracks, has all her great songs. 'At Her Very Best' is the album title, but it could easily have been called 'The Essential Dusty Sprinfield'. It's a great compilation.

I simply do not understand why Eels are not huge!! This is a very seriously good greatest hits (1996-2006) rock album, one of my current favourites, so good I urge you to download it - you will not be dissapointed, sensational.

Katherine Jenkins' album 'From The Heart - The Best Of Katherine Jenkins' was released in China in 2007 though it is available as an 'import' in other countries. It is a compilation CD of songs from her first four albubs. Katherine Jenkins is a Welsh mezzo-soprano and the all-time fastest-selling mezzo-soprano to date. She is currently the first and only British classical artist to have two number one albums in the same year. She also stands as the first female artist to win two consecutive Classical BRIT Awards. Currently she regards herself as a classical-crossover artist but intends to move into opera at some point over the next few years, when her voice 'allows' her to - as a mezzo-soprano her voice will not be fully developed until she reaches her early 30's, she was born in 1980.

Katherine Jenkins' fourth album called 'Serenade' charted at Number One on the UK Classical Charts and at Number Five on the UK Albums Chart (a very impressive feat for a new classical recording artist). It features a duet with Dame Kiri Te Kanawa on track '07 - The Flower Duet'.

The AvaxHome Firefox search plugin has now been updated to work with the new domain name, avaxhome.ws.

A very useful function of the Firefox browser is the ability to add new search engines to Firefox's search bar which (depending on the active theme) is usually positioned on the top right of the Firefox window. I have written 27 'search plugins' for the AvaxHome site, 3 for each of the principal categories; eBooks, Everywhere, Games, Graphics, Magazines, Misc, Music, Software, and Video - each has search by 'Relevance', 'Date', and 'Date Reverse'.
