John Vorhaus, "The Comic Toolbox: How to Be Funny Even If You're Not"
Silman-James Press | ISBN 1879505215 | 1st ed (July 1994) | PDF | 2.5 Mb | 191 pages

Excellent book for story tellers ... Breaks down all the elements of not just a comedy story, but for any story. Makes it easy to come up with an interesting dynamic between characters and the plot. If you are looking for something to help you be funny with friends, or to tell jokes, the concepts can still be applied, but you'd have to keep your friends there long enough for you to build up a funny story.

"A Seat on the Aisle, Please!: The Essential Guide to Urinary Tract Problems in Women"
Elizabeth Kavaler | Springer | ISBN 0387955097 | June 13, 2006 | PDF | 5.6 Mb | 413 pages

In the course of a lifetime, more than half of all women will experience some form of debilitating pelvic disease or discomfort, including chronic urinary tract infections, various kinds of incontinence, pelvic floor prolapse, and interstitial cystitis. Surprisingly, until recently there has been only scant attention paid to this very common group of disorders, considering the vast population of sufferers. What’s more, doctors have long tended to dismiss many symptoms of urinary tract disorders as an inevitable consequence of the aging process or, worse still, as indicators of underlying psychological disease. In this concise, clearly written, and sympathetic new book, Elizabeth Kavaler suggests that a new approach to UT disorders is long overdue. One of the surprisingly small number of female urologists practicing in the U.S., Dr. Kavaler explains what these diseases are and what patients can do to get themselves diagnosed and treated properly. But more than that, she extends an expert, sympathetic, and skilled hand to those who’ve been distressed, isolated, and embarrassed for too long.

Klaus-Peter Gast, "Modern Traditions: Contemporary Architecture in India"
Birkhäuser Basel | ISBN 3764377542 | 1 edition (May 3, 2007) | PDF | 17.8 Mb | 128 pages

India is a lively and diverse country that in recent years has developed into one of the largest industrialized nations in the world. This process is also reflected in its architecture. Recent developments betray a new consciousness and the search for an Indian identity. International influences are merging with traditional styles to create a unique new architectural language, which also bears the stamp of Le Corbusier and Louis Kahn, who worked there. In its introduction, the book depicts the rise of modern architecture in India since independence in 1947. The main section describes the important tendencies of contemporary Indian architecture in thematic chapters, each with built examples. In addition to the new younger generation of Indian architects, it also considers the first post-independence generation, including Balkrishna Doshi and Charles Correa.

G. Aletti, et al, "Math Everywhere: Deterministic and Stochastic Modelling in Biomedicine, Economics and Industry"
Springer | ISBN 3540444459 | 1 edition (November 29, 2006) | PDF | 12 Mb | 343 pages

These proceedings are reporting on the conference ''Math Everywhere", a successful event celebrating a leading scientist, promoting ideas he pursued and sharing the open atmosphere he is known for. The broad spectrum of contributions to this volume illustrates that its title is correct. The areas of the contributions are the following: Deterministic and Stochastic Systems. Mathematical Problems in Biology, Medicine and Ecology. Mathematical Problems in Industry and Economics. Disciplinarity is basic for interdisciplinarity. This statement seems to be trivial, however, everyone, not influenced by fashionable trends and buzzwords entering more and more also science, will find out that it is nontrivial at all in practice. Competence in mathematics and the field of application are both needed. The relevance of mathematical theory is getting more obvious the more one faces the challenges of real life applications. It is a well-known fact that mathematical modelling of real problems very often leads to frontiers of mathematical theory and requires new mathematical methods.

David Shayler et al, "Marswalk One: First Steps on a New Planet (Springer Praxis Books)"
Springer | ISBN 1852337923 | 1 edition (August 23, 2005) | PDF | 14 Mb | 244 pages

MARSWALK ONE: First Steps on a New Planet addresses the question of why we should embark on a journey to Mars, documenting what the first human crew will do when they place their feet in the red dust of the planet. The book also addresses why we need to carry out these tasks and, more importantly, what a human crew could achieve that an automated mission could not. Understanding the clear benefits of sending a human crew to the surface of Mars, and how these benefits can be seen back on Earth, is the key to sustained long-term public and political support for the programme in terms of cash and commitment. The book accepts that the journey will be made, but does not specify precisely when. Flight time, and how to get to and from the planet are discussed briefly, to understand why the suggested duration spent at Mars is reasonable. The main objective of the work is to look at what science will be done on the surface – supported by orbital operations – and what hardware and technology will be employed to achieve the mission objectives.

Seiichiro Wakabayashi, «Classical Microlocal Analysis in the Space of Hyperfunctions»
Springer | ISBN 3540676031 | 1 edition (August 1, 2006) | PDF | 12.4 Mb | 366 pages

The book develops "Classical Microlocal Analysis" in the spaces of hyperfunctions and microfunctions, which makes it possible to apply the methods in the distribution category to the studies on partial differential equations in the hyperfunction category. Here "Classical Microlocal Analysis" means that it does not use "Algebraic Analysis." The main tool in the text is, in some sense, integration by parts. The studies on microlocal uniqueness, analytic hypoellipticity and local solvability are reduced to the problems to derive energy estimates (or a priori estimates).

Andrzej Polanski / Marek Kimmel, «Bioinformatics»
Springer | ISBN 3540241663 | 1 edition (January 2007) | PDF | 5.6 Mb | 400 pages

Bioinformatics as a discipline arose out of the need to introduce order into the massive data sets produced by the new technologies of molecular biology: large-scale DNA sequencing, measurements of RNA concentrations in multiple gene expression arrays, and new profiling techniques in proteomics. As such, bioinformatics integrates a number of traditional quantitative sciences such as mathematics, statistics, computer science and cybernetics with biological sciences such as genetics, genomics, proteomics and molecular evolution.
