Michael Brook is a Canadian guitarist, producer, and sound-track creator. His musical peak was reached in 1992 with the release of his stunning record: "Cobalt Blue" (and the follow-up recording "Live at the Aquarium", also recorded in 1992). On these two albums Michael Brook reached a dizzy height of music creation which few other artists in the 1990's have been able to match. "Cobalt Blue" is a supurb record.

Patricia Barber - Mythologies (2006) [Blue Note] {NEW WORKING LINKS}
EAC rip | FLAC+CUE+LOG+Artwork -> 346 MB (+5% RAR Rec.)
2006 Blue Note | 0946 3 59564 2 9
Jazz / Vocal

Chicagoan singer and pianist Patricia Barber - one of the few jazz musicians to receive the prestigious honor of a Guggenheim Fellowship - expresses unique, personal ambition with this album, which consists entirely of Barber originals. Each song of "Mythologies" represents a character from ancient Greek folklore. But fear not, this isn't some dry or pretentious mythology lesson - as most characters in Greek myth are ascribed human feelings, Barber draws on them to delve into emotional states (positive and negative) common to all.

Bobby McFerrin - Beyond Words (2002) [Blue Note] {NEW WORKING LINKS}
EAC rip | FLAC+CUE+LOG+Artwork -> 339 MB (+5% RAR Rec.)
2002 Blue Note | 7243 5 34201 2 3
Jazz / Vocal

"Beyond Words" is a cornucopia of ethereal sounds and genre combinations. The only "standard" tune on the album is Chick Corea's "Windows." McFerrin and the composer himself team up on this piece, and the interaction between them is full of rich chemistry and spontaneity. Other tracks such as "Kalimba Suite" evoke an African feel, undoubtedly fueled by Cameroonian bass player Richard Bona. There are no lyrics on the record (at least none that are discernable); McFerrin's approach to singing here is similar to some of his earlier efforts, layering numerous vocal tracks on top of one another, creating brilliant washes and punchy syllabic grooves.

2007 EMI | VJCP-68851
Rock / Progressive Rock

"So" is the fifth studio album (and seventh album overall) by British rock musician Peter Gabriel, released in 1986. Many of it's songs reflect a more conventional pop-writing style and became radio hits, others still retain Gabriel's dark, brooding sense of experimentalism.

Dave's True Story - Unauthorized (2000) [Chesky Records, Audiophile 96/24]
Studio Master (source: HDtracks) | FLACs (24bit/96kHz) | Artwork -> 0,99 GB (+5% RAR rec.)
Jazz / Vocal

"Unauthorized" is a great leap forward from the group's previous release "Sex Without Bodies", the main reason being the expanded production/arrangements of bassist/producer Jeff Eyrich. Eyrich uses a wide array of complementary tonal colors, from vibes to a horn section, to frame Cantor's witty, sophisticated songs, and Flint's melodious but deadpan singing style.

Dave's True Story - Sex Without Bodies (1998) [Chesky Records, Audiophile 96/24]
Studio Master (source: HDtracks) | FLACs (24bit/96kHz) | Artwork -> 989 MB (+ 5% RAR rec.)
Jazz / Vocal

With so much of today's music sounding like the din of open warfare, along comes Dave's True Story to prove there's still room for espionage. Chesky Records takes pleasure in presenting a record that's as sweet as a peach and dry as a martini. "Sex Without Bodies" is reminiscent of the post-swing, cafe society sound that belonged to stars like Peggy Lee and Chet Baker.

John Coltrane - Interstellar Space (1967) [2000 Impulse Remastered]
EAC rip | FLAC+CUE+LOG+Artwork -> 397 MB (+5% RAR Rec.)
2000 Impulse! | 543 415-2
Jazz / Classic Jazz

Not released for the first time until 1974 but now available in expanded form as a CD, this set of duets by tenor saxophonist John Coltrane and drummer Rashied Ali are full of fire, emotion and constant abstract invention. The original four pieces ("Mars," "Venus," "Jupiter" and "Saturn") are joined by "Leo" and "Jupiter Variation." Coltrane alternates quiet moments with sections of great intensity, showing off his phenominal technique and ability to improvise without the need for chordal instruments. Rousing if somewhat inaccessible music.
