Hair Original Soundtrack (20th Anniversary Edition)

Hair [20th Anniversary Edition] Original Soundtrack @192 - Re-UPloAD
MP3 | @192 CBR | 3 x 38 MB files | Covers and ID3 tags
This is a new upload - previous files were deleted from rs.de

Rereleased two decades after the motion picture debuted, the soundtrack to the movie version of America's first "tribal love-rock musical," Hair, holds up amazingly well. Performances by Treat Williams ("I Got Life"), Beverly D'Angelo ("Good Morning Starshine"), and Nell Carter ("Abie Baby" and "White Boys") are as uproarious as ever, while Cheryl Barnes's "Easy to Be Hard" remains a paralyzing gospel number. The rerelease of the music comes at a time when the spoiled offspring of the original Woodstock generation returns to the farm rioting, destroying property, and filling arrest dockets with names. If nothing else, the CD is a reminder of a time when social awareness, brotherly love, and mind expansion were mantras, not marketing rhetoric on the sides of soda bottles.

Col Joye, born 1939 in Sydney, is an Australian popular entertainer and entrepreneur. He was the first Australian rock and roll singer to have number one records in Australia and the first Australian to reach the American Billboard charts, with Bye Bye Baby, Stagger Lee, and Oh Yeah Uh Huh, in 1959. With his brothers Kevin and Keith, recording as "Col Joye and the Joyboys", and as a solo artist, Col Joye enjoyed a series of number one hits in the early 1960s in Australia. He was an original member of Brian Henderson's "Bandstand" television program and was on the air there for fourteen years. After the Beatles took music by storm, Col Joye's popularity leveled off, and it was not until 1973 that he had another hit record, Heaven Is My Woman's Love.

Jon Anderson - Olias of Sunhillow

Jon Anderson - Olias of Sunhillow
MP3 192 Kbps | 1976 | 61 Mb | no password

Olias of Sunhillow is a progressive rock concept album by Jon Anderson, the lead singer of the band Yes. It was his first solo album in 1976. He plays all instruments and does all vocals on the album.
Olias of Sunhillow is chock full of sci-fantasy spiritualism, built around a story inspired by Roger Dean's flying starships on the Fragile cover. Dean wasn't present for the art (he was always closest to Howe), so the album sports a lavishly illustrated sleeve from David Roe. Prior to this, his first solo record, Anderson had struck a friendship with Vangelis. That friendship would eventually evolve into a successful string of albums for the duo, but more immediate was the influence Vangelis had on this recording. Just check out the opening moments of "Ocean Song". Anderson wrote and recorded the entire record himself, something of a self-proclaimed "coming of age" for the non-musician. So think of it as Yes without the virtuosity. He mostly bypasses rhythm instead opting for layers of texture. Dipping mostly across the strings of harp and guitars, there’s a fair amount of electronics, no doubt a result of Vangelis' influence. Of course, Anderson’s unique voice is front and center. He always penned a good melody and Olias's dozen songs are no exceptions. "Meeting", "Flight of the Moorglade Mover" and "To The Runner" rank up there with the best of Yes' tunes. Most importantly, the album flows from start to finish. Maybe it is Mike Dunne in the engineer's chair to thank, but the cohesion is genuine. Olias was the most successful of Yes' solo efforts, reaching No 8 in the UK charts and breaking the US Top 50.

The Easybeats

The Easybeats - 1967-The Best Of The Easybeats
MP3 CBR | 55 Mb Total | RS.com | Genre: Classic Rock | Vocals

The Easybeats - 1967-The Best Of The Easybeats
The Easybeats were a rock and roll band in the 1960s from Australia. They formed in Sydney in late 1964 and split at the end of 1969. They are widely regarded as the greatest Australian pop band of the Sixties and were the first Australian rock and roll act to score an international pop hit with their classic 1966 single "Friday on My Mind" (however the folk-pop group, The Seekers, had international hits in 1965). Their manager was former Sydney real estate agent, Mike Vaughan.

The band's line-up exemplifies the influence of post-war migration on Australian society. All five founding members were from families who had migrated to Australia from Europe; lead singer Stevie Wright was from London, rhythm guitarist George Young was from Glasgow, lead guitarist Harry Vanda and bassist Dick Diamonde were from The Netherlands, and drummer Gordon "Snowy" Henry Fleet, in Bootle, Liverpool, England. Disbanded in 1970.

Note the big hit "Friday On My Mind"

Laurie Anderson is an American experimental performance artist and musician. Anderson - violinist, composer, singer, sculptor, poet, and leader in the use of multimedia in the arts - is renowned as one of the most eclectic and groundbreaking performers in the world. The space agency chose Anderson as its artist in residence for 2003. Musically, she has collaborated with Brian Eno, Lou Reed, and Peter Gabriel. Her two most popular albums are "Strange Angels" and "Big Science."
After briefly entering the mainstream pop radar in 1981 with her lone hit "O Superman," Laurie Anderson enjoyed a public visibility greater than virtually any other avant-garde figure of her era. Her infrequent forays into rock aside, Anderson nevertheless remained firmly grounded within the realm of performance art, her ambitious multimedia projects encompassing not only music but also film, mime, visual projections, dance, and -- most importantly -- spoken and written language, the cornerstone of all of her work.

MP3 220 Kbps VBR | Aug 30, 2006 | 44:47 min | 64 Mb | Genre: Folk | Guitar
This is the third upload. RS keeps deleting this! Must be very popular

Bert Jansch, legendary songwriter and guitarist, is widely acknowledged as one of the most influential musicians of all time. Since the mid 1960s generation after generation have been enraptured and amazed by his extraordinary ground-breaking guitar playing and classic emotive songs. Jimmy Page, Neil Young, Nick Drake, Johnny Marr, Bernard Butler and Beth Orton have all been devotees, and today another new generation of musicians and fans, led by Devendra Banhart, are discovering Jansch for themselves.

Bert began performing his unique synthesis of folk, blues and jazz on the folk club scene of the early 1960s, having hitch-hiked to London from his hometown of Edinburgh. His first album, Bert Jansch (played on a borrowed guitar and recorded on a reel-to-reel tape deck in someone's apartment) was legendarily sold to the Transatlantic label for ú100. On its release in April 1965, Bert Jansch caused a sensation for its innovative guitar technique and powerful songs, and it has been phenomenally influential to this day, cited by legions of guitar players (famous and otherwise) as a major inspiration.

Bert's new album The Black Swan was released on Sanctuary on September 18 (except USA and Canada) and has been receiving fantastic reviews across Europe. Producer Noah Georgeson (Joanna Newsom – Milk-Eyed Mender, Devendra Banhart – Cripple Crow) worked with Bert on the record, as well as a number of guests including Devendra Banhart, Beth Orton, Otto Hauser (Espers, Vetiver), Helena Espvall (Espers), Kevin Barker (Currituck Co.), Paul Wassif and Adam Jansch.

Discover Biology (2 Ed) - Michael L. Cain - 0393940551

Michael L. Cain «Discover Biology (2 Ed)»
Book | ISBN: 0393940551 | 2004? Year | PDF | 53 Mb | 741 Pages

Thoroughly revised and updated, Discover Biology, Second Edition, presents the essential concepts of modern biology in a text designed specifically for nonmajors. The authors emphasize a level of detail appropriate for nonmajors, freeing instructors to focus on the scientific issues-HIV, global climate change, DNA fingerprinting, genetic engineering, cancer-that students read about in the paper, vote on in elections, and face in their daily lives. With two new chapters, refined pedagogy and art programs, and a powerful ancillary package, Discover Biology, Second Edition, is the best choice for the nonmajors introductory course.

This is the final page proofs of this book. Its a great book, well illustrated with full colour pictures. I highly reccomend it as a first biology text. Don't miss it!

Protein Stucture and Function

Gregory A. Petsko / Dagmar Ringe «Protein Stucture and Function»
Series: New Science Press, Ltd. (Primers in Biology) | ISBN 0878936637 | 2004 Year | PDF | 6,86 Mb | 174 Pages

A very boring cover hides the high quality images in the book itself:

Published by New Science Press, this text introduces general principles of protein structure, folding, and function, then goes beyond these basics to tackle the conceptual basis of inferring structure and function from genomic sequence. It is the first book in a series, Primers in Biology, employing a modular design in which chapters are divided into topics, each occupying one two-page spread that includes the relevant text, color illustrations, definitions, and references.

The book has five chapters. The first is an introduction to the principles of protein structure and folding, with emphasis on proteins' biophysical properties. The second describes the principles of the main biochemical functions of proteins, namely binding and catalysis, with a short section on the properties of structural proteins. Chapter 3 covers the regulation of protein function, containing concise descriptions of all the regulatory mechanisms that operate on proteins, from pH to phosphorylation, with several sections on protein switches based on nucleotide hydrolysis. Chapter 4 introduces the principles whereby structure and function are deduced from sequence, with illustrative examples. The final chapter addresses how data on protein structure is gathered, interpreted, and presented.

Written for upper-level undergraduates and beginning graduate students, Protein Structure and Function will also be useful for working scientists needing an up-to-date introduction to the field.
