George McCrae - Rock Your Baby (1974)
EAC | FLAC (no cue, no log) 204 MB | mp3 vbr (V0) 58 MB | Cover | 9 Tr. | 31:13
Genre: R&B/Disco-Soul | Full Scans 20 MB | Label: (p) 1974 (c) 2000 EMI Plus

Soul and disco classic. George McCrae was about to return to college, when Richard Finch and Harry Wayne Casey of KC and the Sunshine Band invited him to sing the lyrics for a song that they had recorded for the band, but could not reach the high notes that were required for the song. In fact the original intention was that Gwen, his wife, should record it, but she was late for the session and George recorded alone. It suited his high-pitched voice to the extent that the song 'Rock Your Baby', became one of the first hits of the disco era in 1974, selling an estimated eleven million copies worldwide, topping the charts in the U.S., UK, and over 80 other countries.

Great 'Thriller-Jazz' Soundtracks on Edgar Wallace and Jerry Cotton movies by German composer and sound pioneer Peter Thomas. Crime thrillers, filmed in black & white, were quite popular in Germany in the sixties and the compositions still sound brilliant with uptempo horns, scary organ sounds, choral singing, semi-acoustic guitars, ...

A great 10 CD box digitally remastered and released by United Archives in October 2006. More than 10 hours of Miles Davis early performances, with Benny Carter, with Parker and finally Coltrane. This box says to contain all Miles Davis concerts, radio shows and club performances from the 1948 to 1955 period, indeed the live performances Miles Davis made as a member of the Charlie Parker groups are not in this box - but that's not such a big problem, those recordings have been released in numerous Charlie Parker boxes before. So, according to the sound quality of these rare live recordings, this box is not for the starting jazz collector but for the fanatic jazz collector who wants to follow the development of Miles Davis' trumpet play.

This hypnotic score was composed and conducted by grandmaster Ennio Morricone, and it is still very well done. He combines the right amount of beauty and suspense to create the mood for this horror movie starring Jack Nicholson and Michelle Pfeiffer.

Great remix album on Norway/Sami vocal acrobat Mari Boine. Her songs are remixed by Jah Wobble, Bill Laswell, Nils Petter Molvær, ... - and they sound quite different to the original versions: more trance, chillout, world dub, ambient.

Young Marble Giants - Colossal Youth (1990)
EAC | FLAC (no cue, no log) 224 MB | mp3 vbr (V0) 79 MB | Cover | 21 Tr. | 47:39
Genre: Post-Punk/Indie | Label: (c) 1980/1990 Rough Trade Records

'Colossal Youth' was a very influential album by Cardiff post-punk band YMG, originally released in February 1980. The trio was formed in 1978, their music was constructed around the powerful and minimal instrumentation of brothers Philip and Stuart Moxham along with the vocals of Alison Statton. Stuart Moxham wrote the majority of the band's songs, and his writing was often deceptively simple-seeming, giving the YMG's classic work a uniquely fragile yet powerful quality. Centered around a weird mix of Philip's steel-hawser bass, Stuart's punchy rhythm guitar (played on a mapleglo Rickenbacker 425) and haunting, rhythmic Galanti electric organ lines, with Statton's vocals tentatively suspended in the space between them, their sound was unlike anything anyone had heard before. This release includes the 'Testcard EP' (tr.16-21), originally released in March 1981.
