Davi-Ellen Chabner , «Mind Performance Hacks: Tips & Tools for Overclocking Your Brain»
Saunders | ISBN 1416036741 | Soft | 5th ed. | 899 Kb

The Language of Medicine program is designed to complement the textbook The Language of Medicine (Fifth Edition). The program consists of several different exercises for each chapter in the textbook. Five different types of exercises are included in this program: multiple choice, short answer, matching, graphical matching, and paragraph matching.

All exercises are presented in a tutorial format: you answer a question, and the program tells you whether you answered correctly and why your answer is correct or incorrect. You get two chances to answer a question correctly.

To further reinforce learning, the program also allows you to review completed exercises. In the Review Mode, you see every question, the correct answer, and your answers. You can also review an explanation for any answer choice.

The Genetic Gods: Evolution and Belief in Human Affairs

John C. Avise, «The Genetic Gods: Evolution and Belief in Human Affairs»
Harvard University Press | ISBN: 0674005333 | 2001 | PDF | 2880 Pages | 1,96 Mb

Avise (genetics, Univ. of Georgia) explains thoroughly how evolution operates on a genetic level. His goal is to show that humans can look to this information as a way to answer fundamental questions of life instead of looking to traditional religious beliefs. Unfortunately, what could have been a fascinating and provocative book for informed lay readers turns out to be a rather average academic tome, written in a dense, scholarly style that is sometimes hard to get through. Although Avise includes some very interesting discussions of ethical concerns related to genetic issues, his book is recommended only for academic collections and some larger public libraries. – Eric D. Albright, Duke Medical Ctr. Lib., Durham, NC
