“Mastedon was a band formed by brothers Dino and John Elefante in the mid-80s. The band was formed mainly as a studio project and released two albums: It’s a Jungle Out There and Lofcaudio.
Some of the collaborators in the bands albums were Dave Amato (from Ted Nugent band and currently the guitarist for REO Speedwagon) and Stef Burnbaum (from Michael Bolton’s touring band). Other band members were bassist John Pierce, drummer David Raven, and guest vocalists David Pack (Ambrosia) and Perry Lee (Tracer Fox).
the new album, simply entitled "3" harkens back to the best of Mastedon and to his work with Kansas and none other than main Kansas songwriter Kerry Livgren appears on lead guitar on the release.

The Rifles used Dave Davies' (The Kinks) studio in Crouch End, called Konk Studios, Dan Hawkins' (The Darkness) studio Leeders Farm, and "The Pool" in Miloco Studios to record the album.
The album was released in North America on September 15, 2009.
The song "Science in Violence" was featured in an ad for MTV2's Dew Tour 2009.		”
