Vinyl rip @ 24/96 | FLAC | Artwork | 762mb
FilePost, Rapidshare | Pop | 1965 UK stereo LP | London SHR 8233

While living in London in the early ’60s, Bacharach recorded his first collection of Bacharach/David songs, aptly titled Hit Maker! (1965)…the slightly updated arrangements are scored for a decidedly more discerning and mature ear.

Status Quo –Ma Kelly’s Greasy Spoon (1970) plus bonus
Vinyl rip @ 24/96 | FLAC | Artwork | 1050mb
FilePost, Rapidshare | Rock | Circa 1980 UK repress | Pye/PRT NSPL 18344

Compared to the albums that would follow, Ma Kelly is revealed as little more than a tentative blueprint for the Quo’s new direction. At the time, however, it was a spellbinding shock, perhaps the last one that the Quo ever delivered.

Vinyl rip @ 24/96 | FLAC | Artwork | 858mb
FilePost, Rapidshare | Psychedelic Rock | 1967 UK stereo LP | Minit MLS 40001

This album has acquired a bit of status as a minor legend over the moons, and it’s not too hard on balance to hear why…

FilePost, Rapidshare | Celtic Folk | 1976 UK repress | Transatlantic XTRA 1077

Finbar Furey is a member of a very small body of musicians who are masters of the Irish pipes, a complex instrument which has developed over the centuries into the most sophisticated form of bagpipes.

Finbar & Eddie Furey – The Dawning of the Day (1972) plus bonus
Vinyl rip @ 24/96 | FLAC | Artwork | 1682mb
FilePost, Rapidshare | Celtic Folk | 1972 UK LP | Dawn DNLS 3037

The sons of fiddler Ted Furey from Ireland, Finbar and Eddie rose to fame in the ’60s. Finbar is a flamboyant and forceful uillean piper who won his first all-Ireland championship at the age of 15, while Eddie is a singer and guitarist. They have been members of the Furey Brothers and Davey Arthur, but their most charming recordings are the ones they did as a duo.

FilePost, FileFactory | Folk, Folk-Rock, Psychedelia | UK 2-LP box set, 1976 stereo repress | Pye NSPL 20000

Rock music’s first two-LP box set, A Gift from a Flower to a Garden overcomes its original shortcomings and stands out as a prime artefact of the flower-power era that produced it.

FilePost, Rapidshare | British Blues | 1968 UK stereo LP | Decca SKL 4945

Bare Wires was the first Bluesbreakers album of new studio material since A Hard Road, released 16 months before. In that time, the band had turned over entirely, expanding to become a septet. Mayall’s musical conception had also expanded…

Caravan – Waterloo Lily (1972)
Vinyl rip @ 24/96 | FLAC | Artwork | 894mb
FilePost, Rapidshare | Progressive Rock | 1976 UK repress | Deram SDL-R 8

Waterloo Lily is a 1972 released album by Caravan on the Deram label. It is the only album made by Caravan with Steve Miller as the keyboard player. He brought a jazzier feel to the sound of Caravan than had been heard on the previous album. The stand out track is "The Love in Your Eye" which has been featured as a live track for many years by the band.

David Bowie - The Man Who Sold The World (1971)
Vinyl rip @ 24/96 | FLAC | Artwork | 948mb
FilePost, Rapidshare | Rock | 1976 UK repress | RCA LSP 4816

The Man Who Sold the World is odd, but the music is bizarre itself, with Bowie's bizarre, paranoid futuristic tales melded to Ronson's riffing and the band's relentless attack…there's an unsettling edge to the band's performance, which makes the record one of Bowie's best albums.

Vinyl rip @ 24/96 | FLAC | Artwork | 596mb
FilePost, Rapidshare | Soul | 1974 UK LP | London SHU 8468

Peebles sings her heart out, and with those somehow bright-sounding Hi grooves behind her, it all comes together to make a classic album of dark, bouncy, and beautiful Southern soul.

Vinyl rip @ 24/96 | FLAC | Artwork | 871mb
FilePost, Rapidshare | Psychedelia, Progressive Rock | 1970 UK re-press | Island ILPS 9110Q

Quintessence offered a blend of Hare Krishna Chant, droning sitar, jazz flute and some fine rock jamming. 'In Blissful Company' is their first album and perhaps their best. The sense of a more innocent age and the smell of incense pervade its grooves.

Vinyl rip @ 24/96 | FLAC | Artwork | 782mb
FilePost, Rapidshare | Folk-Rock | 2010 ‘Back to Black’ EU reissue | Decca/Deram Nova SDN 12

Fay’s three albums are incredible treasures of British music, which I could vaguely describe as a cross between Syd Barrett and Scott Walker, though such simplification does them a gross disservice.

Magical and mysterious songs with female vocals, powerful instrumentation and an ever-so-English opium and afternoon tea atmosphere. Tally ho!

On Blue Afternoon, Buckley takes the folk song as his starting point and expands it, drawing on jazz influences to create new dynamics and to emphasize atmosphere and mood.
