He meets his cousin Angelica, who was his first love, living on the first floor with her husband and daughter, and he recalls his childhood in times of the Spanish Civil War entwined with the present.

Al cabo de los años, Luis vuelve a Segovia trayendo desde Barcelona los restos de su madre para inhumarlos en el panteón familiar. Allí pasaba los veranos, en casa de su tía Pilar y la prima Angélica. La guerra civil retuvo a Luis en Segovia, lejos de sus padres y la convivencia con Angélica despertó sus primeros sentimientos amorosos. After killing the corrupt bailiff who had him sent to jail, he at first hides among a tribe of natives, then moves into a brothel. Fueled by drink, he kills a man whom he did not know. Because the victim was an important politician, politicians from an opposing faction hire Moreira to work for them as an assassin. When that faction fails to deliver on the promise of an amnesty for him, he starts working for the other side. This continues until the two groups of politicians temporarily make peace, which proves fatal for Juan Moreira.

Juan Moreira es encarcelado por reclamar lo suyo. Al ser liberado toma justicia por mano propia y signa definitivamente su destino de persecución y muerte. Se suma a las huestes de Alsina y entra en la política de Comité. Traicionado se pasa al bando del Gral. Mitre. En medio de estas luchas políticas, del fraude y de las traiciones, librado a su suerte, sólo le quedará una opción.

François Truffaut - L'amour en fuite (1979)

Now in his thirties, Antoine Doinel has divorced his wife Christine and is having a love affair with a young shop girl, Sabine. This new relationship becomes strained when Antoine skips a dinner date to take his son Alphonse to the railway station. There, by chance, he meets his first love, Colette, who is now a successful lawyer. She has just bought a copy of Antoine’s biography, which relates all of his past loves, and she is not impressed by his poetic licence. As they talk on the train, Antoine outlines the plot for his next book, in which a man falls in love with the woman in a torn up photograph and devotes himself to finding her. As Antoine leaves the train in a hurry, he drops a piece of paper. It is the torn photograph of a young woman, lovingly put together with tape.

Quinta y última película acerca de la vida de Antoine Doinel, que al igual que las otras cuatro interpreta Jean-Pierre Léaud. Truffaut finaliza el ciclo, mostrando la vida de Antoine con más de treinta años y divorciado. La búsqueda del amor sigue siendo una constante, pero ahora, gracias a sus experiencias (recordadas por medio de flasbacks, que el director rescata de las anteriores películas) comprende que el amor exige sacrificio y compromiso.
