Encyclopedia of the Great Depression. 2 Vol. Set
Publisher: Gacl | ISBN: 0028656865 | edition 2003 | PDF | 1134 pages | 28,6 mb

Grade 9 Up–This comprehensive, accessible set will serve as a useful supplement for research. Myriad aspects of the crisis are covered in almost 550 alphabetically arranged, cross-referenced articles written by hundreds of international scholars. About 200 of the articles are biographies. Topics are easily located via a practical outline in volume one listing entries under categories such as "Agriculture," "Intellectual Trends and Developments," "International Situation," "New Deal," and "Women and Gender." Article length varies, with most being a page or slightly longer; FDR's entry is 10 times that. Large black-and-white archival photographs, several by Dorothea Lange, are judiciously placed throughout. More straightforward and drier than James Ciment's Encyclopedia of the Great Depression and the New Deal (Sharpe Reference, 2001), which features primary-source documents, and without as much intrinsic appeal as Depression America (Grolier, 2001), this is nonetheless a worthy resource.

Site Analysis: Linking Program and Concept in Land Planning and Design
Publisher: Wiley | ISBN: 0471344125 | edition 2001 | CHM | 224 pages | 11,1 mb

The process of evaluating the use of evaluating the use of land for institutional and residential development is clearly and comprehensively outlined in a very logical and systematic manner; relating, through a "program", the critical needs of a potential developer to the realities of the site.
The publication begins with a detailed description of the programming and site selection approaches which then leads to a description of the attributes that need to be considered for investigation within the site analysis.
The development of a "program" for site planning projects which includes architecture is both essential and uncommon. Although many of the examples are of relatively large-scale urban sites, the approach is applicable for all sizes of development. (Professor Laurence E. Coffin, Jr., FASLA, AICP reveiewed SITE ANALYSIS for the International Institute of Site Planning)

Encyclopedia of the American Constitution (6 Volume Set)
Publisher: Gacl | ISBN: 0028648803 | edition 2000 | PDF | 3309 pages | 18 mb

This new edition admirably continues the standard set in 1986 of providing high-quality, insightful, and thorough essays by leading constitutional scholars, law school professors, judges, historians, and political scientists on practical and theoretical topics dealing with every aspect of constitutional law in the U.S., from the Constitutional Convention in 1787 to the Clinton impeachment. The first edition won the 1987 Dartmouth Medal awarded by ALA's Reference and User Services Association and was designated as one of four core reference sources for a "Bicentennial Bookshelf" by the National Endowment for the Humanities. In 1992, a one-volume supplement was published, covering major constitutional developments and decisions since 1985 as well as topics omitted from the original set. When it came time to consider publishing a second supplementary volume, the editors wisely decided that it would be too unwieldy for users to have to consult the main volume plus two supplements to obtain thorough coverage of a topic. Instead, the editors opted to produce one new set, which would not only update many existing articles and cover new topics of importance but also include the original content of the first edition and its supplement.
