Most people claim 'In Absentia' to be the best album of the more recent Porcupine Tree sound, even their best album period. With this I personally have to disagree. While 'In Absentia' is undoubtedly a good album, 'Deadwing' is better. What do you think about this?

In Absentia by Porcupine Tree may just be the finest album to come along in a long, long time. Trying to describe this album in terms of sound is difficult think of a band with the vocal harmonies of early REM, the atmospherics of Pink Floyd or Radiohead, and the metallic sound of 70's era King Crimson or Tool. And yet, it sounds totally different from any of them.

Jones, the legendary bass player of Led Zepplin delivers a tremendous sounding rock instrumental cd. All the tracks are fantastic, ranging from rock to the blues.

Vibrasphere is Rickard Berglöf and Robert Elster from Uppsala, Sweden. For over a half a decade they have been one of the most influential and sought-after trance acts, helping to shape the sound of what is modern progressive music.

If you are a fan of symphonic prog, especially the styling's of Genesis and King Crimson, this is THE album for you. Here is a band that knows their influences, but offers their own unique take on things. If You liked "Out of Myself" (read more, special thanks to opus54) you will fall in love with this one even more. Higly recomended for fans of Porcupine Tree, Anathema, Dream Theater. A Masterpiece.

Live versions of the songs, filmed in an old Pompeii amphitheater. Songs included are Echoes, Careful with that axe, Eugene, A saucerful of secrets, One of those days, Set the controls for the heart of the sun, Mademoiselle nobbs (Seamus, but with Rick's dog on vocals). "Careful" and "Set the controls" are shot at night with minimal lighting, setting a beautiful mood. And the live Saucerful just has to be seen, with Waters jumping around in the sunlight banging the huge gong. The 80-minute version features studio footage from the recordings of Dark side of the Moon, with alternate versions of Us and them, On the run and Brain Damage, as well as hilarious interviews with the band (don't miss Waters raving about the great economical collapse, and Nick whining about the crust on the pie).
