Everything You Need to Know to Start Playing Now!
This easy-to-use CD-ROM uses the same great step-by-step approach as the best-selling book in a fun, interactive audio/visual format. Beginners of all ages will learn the notes on the entire keyboard, how to form the most important scales and chords, all the basic rhythms, and how to play expressively with feeling. Exercises and finger aerobics reinforce technique as you follow along with music right on your screen. The interactive song player lets you see how the music should be played, change tempos, adjust audio levels, and record your performance! Works with Windows and Macintosh systems.

PROS:
- it is simple in design and use. There is a navigation window on the left hand side of the screen that runs vertically and through this window you can access and scroll through all of the features and pages included in the program.
- it presents video instruction from a professional pianist
- Each video lesson presents material in each in an easy to comprehend manner.
- This deluxe edition comes with a music dictionary and a booklet that contains all of the songs found inside the program. The Essential Dictionary of Music is an excellent reference tool containing definitions, biographical information on composers, music theory charts, and instrument and vocal ranges.
- it includes an ear training program as well as a few games. The ear training program plays a note or notes and teaches you to identify properly the pitch. You have the option of identifying singular notes, tackling multiple notes in succession or identifying intervals.
CONS:
- it does not offer instruction or practices for each hand individually
- it does not have an animated keyboard.
- it does not offer recording, mixing or composition options
- it cannot track your progress.
- the lessons are brief and not in-depth.
- it includes little written material.
- the professional player does not perform entire songs, like other programs, but just teaches specific topics.
- it does not have a searchable song library and it cannot track multiple users or keep history reports.
- You must always have the CD in the drive in order to run this program, which is a hassle.
Worth downloading to get the Music Dictionary. All other aspects are outshined from the competition.
