I Am America (And So Can You!) audiobook

"Hi, I'm Stephen Colbert, and I am no fan of books." So opens the audiobook version of that late-night-cable comedian's "I Am America (And So Can You!)".

"Unlike a lot of books, this audio is almost a different animal", said Jamie Raab, publisher of Grand Central Publishing. "It's not a verbatim reading of the book. It's really a creative adaptation. People have these profound experiences of these works and then either want to memorialize them with a physical incarnation or they actually want to go back and read the texts."



Mr. Colbert worked with Paul Dinello, who plays Geoffrey Jellineck, the closeted gay art teacher on Comedy Central's "Strangers With Candy", to edit the book for audio. Along with Mr. Colbert and Mr. Dinello, the 14-member cast for the audio book includes Mr. Stewart and the comedian Amy Sedaris.
